Change up in my art possibly?
I have often built backgrounds and used textures in my 2D digital drawings that are sourced from pictures of real life scenery. I sometimes feel using material like this was cheating and made the "value" of my works less than that of traditional and digital artists who hand draw backgrounds and textures. My ability to draw traditionally, texture, shade, and light manually may have suffered as a result of relying on the tools of modern software too much. But I finally reached the point where the "value" feeling I had about using these tools is nolonger a reason to avoid them. To be blunt I'm a slow drawer with a poor grasp of anatomy and "correct" technique, to advance further would take considerable dedication, effort, and time. I have too many hobbies, work, and school to deal with that I just don't have the motivation or time to advance.
I started using Sculptris to make 3D models, and I have downloaded Blender, I am now hooked! 3D modelling things helps me work on anatomy and fine tune things in accordance with my OCD tendencies without needing to stress over drawing. It also fills my craving for interesting poses by providing the ability to change camera angles. Normally I couldn't do this so easily.
Since many of you have grown use to my stubborn and weird ways of drawing I propose for the better that I use yet another tool. I want to combine my drawing by hand, texturing by pictures, and now additionally posing by sculpting/ modeling. This might even let me animate better too~ who knows. How I make my works will change a bit if I add this in but hopefully it will be transparent to my audience, all you should expect is that somehow this will make the final products more appealing/better.
I will likely divulge details on how I would combine all 3 things. This wont stop me drawing or sketching as I sometimes do, it will just mean finished drawings will likely involve 3D as a tool to correct perspective, anatomy, lighting and speed up / reduce the time spent drawing to make the same final result.
