PopUfur the board game update 1
so ive decided to implement a stat system into the game. I wanted to keep things simple and not let the characters get overly complex but in doing so I severely limited the types of items a player could purchase in the dealer's den ( the market place type space for this game) without any stats the players cared about I was limited the functionality of each item. I also tried a system where player leveled up and gain rewards based on how many followers (victory points) each player received. however, in play testing this lead to a snowballing effect where once a player got ahead of everyone else it was really difficult for players to catch up without relying on dumb luck.
so, I am experimenting today with the concept of stats a player can build upon through out the course of the game.
as of posting this journal I am going with 3 stats. creativity, socialness, and tolerance.
creativity is how artistic a player is, well socialness is how well a player interacts with new people. well tolerance is how much alcohol a player can drink in the room party phase without passing out.
for players who have played any fantasy RPG before you could relate it to, Strength, magic, and health.
I want this game to feel like an epic adventure RPG style board game, but set at a furry convention. a game that celebrates everything amazing about the furry fandom well also poking a lot of fun at it as well.
example the artist would have starting stats like 4 creativity 2 socialness and a tolerance of 8 ( the normal alcohol tolerance for most characters.)
well the Party Guy would have a creativity of 1, a socialness skill of 4 and a alcohol tolerance of 10.
along with all the special ability's that a character will have access to at level 1.
ive spent so much time over the last few weeks designing this game that now that I am moving into the play testing phase Im rather confused on where to go next. I have someone who is willing to invest in making this game happen but I need to figure out several things.
1. I need to register a business
2. I need to set up a website for this game rather then just posting all the updates here on FA
3. I need to learn how kick starter works and set one up for this game.
4. I need to hire several artists to design the board, card artwork, and box
I feel I am really on to something with this and even if I just make my money back I will be incredibly happy if I am able to put something like this out on the market to be sold at and played at fur cons.
if any of you have any advice on starting a website, running a kick starter or anything of this nature please contact me, Id love to ask you some questions
