I just got done playing this RPGMaker Puzzle based Horror Adventure Game by Fummy >> http://majonoie.karou.jp/index.html <<
O m O Holy FUCK was this game scary, amazing, and too awesome to pass up
I Literally had to take a break from it half way though because how uneasy it was making me, but I persisted and was more then entertained by it.
So lets break it down.
PLOT
You play as a young girl (Because of course) name Viola as she has wondered to a House deep into a forest.
Trapped now by the house, She must find a way though the house to find a way to escape while avoiding the dangers of the ever changing house intent on killing her.
Simple enough.
Game Play
Much like any adventure game you will come across items you need to pick up and bring along with you to solve puzzles along your way.
Unlike some games, they won't be used automatically and must go into the item menu to activate/solve puzzle.
There are alot of things that can be looked at so feel free to touch all the things, as some will give you hints you need to solve some puzzles.
Endings
Sometimes the best, but not all, games have more then one Ending, seems to be a standard with Horror games of this manner.
The Witch's House is no exception.
There are two major 'Endings';
The Normal Ending and the "True" Ending
and One Secret Ending that doesn't require a second play-though, but is recommended
The Good
Graphically wise, its Excellent in terms of the 16bit RPG styling.
Bright colors where it needs to be
and dark loomy effects and ugly washed out Dank where it needs to be
added with a layer of freshness and thick with Atmosphere.
a good deal of this is the use of the "lantern effect" as I call it
Only a bubble of visibly around your character as you move around the House throughout Most of the game.
You Feel that you are in a Dark unwelcoming place you Shouldn't be, dreading anything that comes with in your view as it could be a new threat or the next lil boo.
I never had a game made me feel so nerve-wrecked about moving into a new room as often as this, the Music, sounds, and Jump scares got to me.
If you are looking for a game that will genuinely startle you, then this is for you.
The Bad
The only thing that I can say is that the Kills, I mean that when You as the player Dies, it seems so Impersonal at times.
Too quickly does a moment your deaths (trust me, there will be many) feel so short lived before being slapped with the GameOver screen.
Which starts almost immediately as it enter the house as it quickly turns into a "Trail and Error" play with player death with Death traps,
Some you Don't see coming and A few Death traps you can see coming and is even worth a few laughs and a jump if you remember to save.
Which is can be seen as both a good or bad thing, but
Do know that you will find some.
But the Unknown, Didn't see it come, deaths can leave a bit of frustration if you didn't remember to save.
Some of these are the Surprise Chases scenes. But they are short and some take some planning and trial and error which take Some of the bite from them after the first time.
and there where Two puzzles that I actually needed to look up the answers too, which took me out of the experience quite a bit.
The Great
The Final Chase scene, was Perfectly executed.
the Tension and the build up to it, and the Chase it self was a work of art.
and The True ending...
I sat with my mouth hanging open for a few minutes.
Unexpected, and truly shocking.
The Ugly
surprisingly, there was nothing so abhorred about The Witch's House that would several impact the game as a whole.
other then maybe its play time for some at only 2 - 3 hours, or slightly over an hour of actual gameplay, which is standard of RPGmaker games
and doesn't have much in the way of Replay Value Other then the Secret Ending, which only adds clarity dialogue Before the ending.
The Verdict
Get this game, Download it and play it
Be sure to get the true ending, and it Will go down as one of your greats
18/20 ( A Must Play )

Still, I suppose I could give it a shot. Worst comes to worse, I could just delete it if I don't like it.
