Pre-AC2014 Triceraton Direct(With Bonus Roy Koopa content!)

Well, guess it was time for another one of these.
So, what's new? Among other things, I'll be making second foray to AC, this year. It got good to me enough that I wanted to come back and chill with the likes of my boys,
dracovar,
spelunkersal and
dreamous once again. However, this time, I'll actually be rooming with
leozodiac at the Double Tree Hilton. Since this is looking to be my "Summer Vacation" again, I'm hoping this will be as enjoyable as it was last year.
If, for whatever, reason, you aim to look for me? Chances are you may find me annoying the adorable bunny at his booth at dotted times. You may also find me wearing a hat that looks like the top of Roy's head. I would normally say that a bright pink cap would be hard to miss, but then again, this is a convention with no shortage of colorful costumes. But hey, if you do find me, go ahead and give a holla!
And now, a state of my writings, for those who care: It's still slow-going. Between some dotted incidents in my life (re: my old laptop dying off), and just the general rat-race getting to be a drag, it's been hard to get back into the swing of things. This is another reason why this vacation is so relevant, because I really think I need something to reinvigorate me and perhaps spark my writing as a result. So, we'll see if that happens after I come back!
But hey, since I haven't given you guys anything in a while, maybe I can give you all a little tidbit about what kinds of things my mind uses when it comes to my writings!
So, one thing that I've always noticed and found amusing is how some readers take to Roy's choice of "dialect". Some people like it, some don't and some even needed a "translation" to understand what he's saying!
Well, there actually is a method to my madness!
There's very few official sources regarding the Koopalings and any possible things that could be used as a means to help develop their characters any. But one of the best is still the JP version of the SMB3 manual. Not only did this manual back up the original story of how the Koopalings were (and still are, in my eyes) Bowser's kids, but the Japanese manual went further to give the kids some variety and characterization that was missed by the Western localization team.
For Roy, specifically, his speech bubble had the unique attribute of having him speaking in a "Kansai" dialect. The best way to think about how different this Osaka regional dialect is from "standard" Japanese is like how someone speaking with an American "Southern drawl" may speak differently from someone speaking with a "New York accent". And for most localizers/fansubbers/translators of Japanese anime, manga and video games, there's, to my knowledge no real clear school of thought of how to "translate" that kind of accent for the sake of a Western audience.
So, with that mind? When it came to designing RM-Junior's favorite big brother in my head, I wanted to give my own "take" on that concept. Most Japanese comedians and entertainers use Kansai themselves, so I wanted to give Roy a style of speaking that was both decidedly "urban" and what I would have imagined to be something fitting for one who was perpetually at the center of attention at different stages of his life. As Roy would put it, he was going to stand out, thanks to him being bigger than most other people and having a pink color scheme, no matter what. So him finding other ways of keeping your attention was just going to come naturally.
How he picked it up is something I may elaborate in another story of mine, later on. Or not, as it's not that important in the grand scheme of things, right? C8
But anyway, now, you know!
If you guys end up liking me doing this type of thing, maybe I might do one of these every so often, and not just do them on Sal's streams on dotted occasions!
