I'm gonna be a STAR!

Or, rather Betty might. Maybe.
A movie production company hit town looking for classic autos ('65-'75) and extras for an upcoming Don Cheadle movie bio about jazz legend Miles Davis. When I first heard about it on the local morning news, just on a total lark and for the complete hell of it I responded, using the "Bunneh and Buick" pic you see here (simply because it was right at hand on my comp's hard drive).
Imagine my utter surprise when I got to work and later that morning saw an email from one of the casting people saying she loved Betty and wanted to use her in the movie!! Not only that, but said person wanted to know if I also wanted to drive her in it, too, and asked for clothing info for wardrobe! And, I get $164 a day for it all!
BAM!! :D
I quickly let my car show pals know about it and my one friend who has a '72 Olds 98 applied and got accepted, too. I have some vacay time coming to me this month; I figure why not take a break from working on the house and do something fun? Final details are being worked out as I type this.
Not sure what's gonna happen - or even if something happens and I can't do this - but if everything actually goes down, and even if I'm relegated to the BG or a quick drive-by, should be a blast! :)

FA+

I like him as an actor very much.
Nice deal!
Actually my friends and I were talking about just that a few weeks ago. My theory as to why Betty would be attractive to the movie people is that she's not the kind of car you find at every show. Go to any given cruise-in or car show and you always see the same kinds of cars; from that era, it's always '72 Olds 442s, '70 Plymouth Superbirds, '69 Chevy Impalas...the list goes on. All two-door hardtops, of course. You don't see many four-door sedans, especially luxury cars, because those aren't collectible enough. So, back in the 80s and 90s they became demolition derby fodder.
Nah... I like being different, and I LOVE the attention that I get with my four-door sedan. And, evidently, mine has the certain look that movie companies like.
Interestingly enough, the casting lady said for me not to wash Betty before filming begins on Monday. Guess she wants the whole "au naturale" look, and all. Which has me curious... If she wants a slightly dusted up Betty, does that mean I'll get actual screen time rather than just be parked in a line of cars? Although Betty's restoration is ongoing and I have her looking good now, if this is 1975 we're talking about she might be a little on the scruffy side for being only four years old. Haveta see what goes down. Pictures will definitely be in the offing!
