The River Rats were quite frustrated with missing the playoffs last year and are on a tear, scoring 14 runs against the Waves to spoil the return of baseball to the Golden State. The new pickups in the bullpen were on display, holding down the fort even after a strong attempt by the Waves in the 7th to come back.

In a season where many pundits have wondered if the Pioneers were going to stumble due to the gutting of their famed "Arsenal of Freedom" pitching corps, the coast looks clear so far. Led by their ace Ryan Mansfield, the Pioneers came out swinging against their rivals, with their entire offensive output coming in the 6th inning. But it was more than enough for the Arsenal. Time will tell if the pickups in the draft will continue their depth however.

The home fans were treated to a strong game that was begun by the ring ceremony and the 2013 championship banner flying high in the New Orleans skyline. In a rare game where all three runs were knocked in by solo home runs, the Sternwheelers were unable to back up the strong outing by Ourorobous who had a strong duel with Lou Flynn. But a timely home run by Terry Simpson brought the home team the win.

The Swamp Foxes spoiled the Pikes' inaugural game in their usual flashy style, knccking in three runs in the last two innings to take the game out of the grasp of the Pikes. The Swamp Foxes have seemed to reload their strong bullpen, holding on the game after the inital deficit to lead to give the offense a chance to win.

The new leadership with the Tikis has not slowed down their desire to bring the title to the islands as shown by the strong opening that they employed against the Meadowlarks, knocking in seven runs in the first three innings to start the 2014 season off with a bang.

The inaugural season of the Bombers started fittingly on Canada Day, with fireworks before and after and several Canadian celebreties leading the stadium in "Oh Canada". And the fans were certainly rewarded with a tense and claw-biting game as the home team won their first recorded regular season game with a thrillig home run from Jorge De La Cruz in the 8th to tie it before Genji Mirumoto (BBB/Red Panda/DH) knocked in the winning run.

The Waves came in looking to avenge their opening loss and was held on tight by their bullpen. Rocked hard by a 5 run deficit, they held on strong, chipping away at the Rats' lead until the eight inning. Fueled by a rally, Oliver Crowe (LBW/African Wild Dog/C) hit a single to drive in both the tying and winning run to the delight of fans.

Portland opened their season at Nike Field to another show of offensive prowess, backing young sensaion Keith Veeck as he held the Ravens to two runs, showing the same strong pitching he ended the 2013 season with.

Marietta showed the flash of offense that their fans were desperately hoping for last season, shocking the defending champion Pelicans with two home runs and a small-ball fueled sixth inning that sealed the deal for the Wheelers.

In a tense game without home runs, Winnipeg avenged their opening loss with a back and forth to hold on through a Swamp Foxes' rally in the ninth. Nanu Lycopolis had a strong showing on the field, showing that the Pikes' efforts to upgrade her to a starter including picking her brother Anpu in the expansion to provide a solid battery was a solid decision, at least for the time being.

It was a high-scoring affair in Paradise, although most of the scoring came in a complete collapse in the seventh inning as the Meadowlarks scored nine, burning through three pitchers with two home runs and two doubles to grab the win.

The Bombers emerged from the days' games as the only other undefeated team, relying on strong outing by the team led by Genji Mirumoto (BBB/Red Panda/DH) who went 4-4 with 2 RBI.

Tough start for the Ravens :( Hopefully the pitching can get better as the season goes on
Bowman (CHA) is still going over the major league butterflies. Maybe his fielding skills will win over for the first part of the season.
Niwa (MAR) is actually surprised that his first hit ended up out of the park and he hopes that it will not be a fluke. With him fully settled in the city and with the team, the only direction he is expecting to go is up.
