Computer update: where is it??
***************************************************************** Got a call today from Apple that my old computer's new logic board, the main part giving me issues which had already failed at being fixed once, was on back order from the factory. The time estimate they were given for a new one was mid to late AUGUST.
The call (which had gone to voice mail) ended with the Apple rep asking me to call him back to discuss "replacement options". Terrified that I was going to have to buy a new computer, even at a discount (y'all know Apple computers ain't cheap), I got really scared and might have peed my pants... Had the rep not told me they were sending the replacement totally FREE OF CHARGE.
"We promised a free repair. We couldn't deliver in a timely manner, so you deserve a free computer."
New computer is an upgrade to my old one in almost every way. It's a 2012 model, 3.2 quad core with 512gb flash harddrive, 16gb of ram, 1gb video card, and a bunch of other things I missed because I was kinda in shock. It's a 15" instead of a 17", I downgraded from 3 USB slots to 2 and I lost the disk drive I almost never used, but apart from that it's an upgrade in every way that matters. And because it's "new", it's now under a 1 year warrantee and eligible for Apple care.
Say what you will about Apple products, they know how to take care of their customers. ^_^
The new computer should be at my door Friday or Saturday (Monday at the absolute latest), so it'll still be a bit before I can get back to work. But as soon as I can I'm gonna do a big art stream to celebrate, so keep an eye out for that!
I super appreciate how patient and supported you all have been with this. You're awesome and you all deserve high fives and cupcakes. :D HUGS!!!

My old 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2010) gave up the ghost this month too, mainly due to a defect in the logic board's GPU (NVidia) and the battery started swelling. Worst thing is this happened after the term which Apple's Knowledge Base article said that they'll support it. $800 to repair an old computer was too much and in the end I decided to get a new 27" iMac.
If you need any help in the future with the Mac Liz, just email or tweet me, will happily oblige.
So if you can, pull out the serial numbers of some of your important software and keep them in had when you restore your user account.
better reciprocate the flow and do a shit ton of good deeds.
good to hear
I only have a similar goodwill story about a replacement iPhone that was...well, can't say no hassle. I do like that I get satisfied in the end, but God those stores...they're all over you when you're just browsing, and all the goobers are busy when you actually want something. Every time. I cringe and consider just getting it online or at Best Browse rather than deal with the searing light inside an Apple store. :) Yeah, the goobs that work there are still nice, but...ugh, for an anti-social guy like me, Apple stores are bad. I just wanna get in and out and socialize and deal with touchy-feely as little as possible.
Wow, that was a little more ranty than I wanted. Meh, I did have a bad day at work. :)
So them to give you best deal of all? this is a treat deserves a celebration! *Carries my Coffee Mug to you*
Bottom line, it is when a company like Apple does what they did for you, that they have made a customer for life.
Way to go.
Enjoy your upgrades!
(It might no longer be true, but one of the other Apple secrets is that mailing in a computer for repair is a flat-fee. Taking it into the Apple store charges you something like cost+repair, so not a flat-fee. If you know your motherboard or some other expensive item is the problem, you can mail it in for repair for less than the cost of the component. Which is nice if only because it is quite hard/expensive to pick up a part to fix it yourself if you have an Apple, as you have to rely on used parts if you're working with that brand.)
