Injuries
Ani Coyoc Diaz (PDX/Xoloizcuintli/2B; 7 days, damaged knee meniscus)
Darwin Bronson (WIS/Dromedary Camel/SP; 27 days, hyperextended elbow)
Though Pioneers fans have been up and down with their team's performance this season, one bright spot continues to be Japanese transplant Kumiho "Kyu-Ball" Kakashi who spun another gem against the Pelicans' top pitcher Bartolomeu Marcial, who is having a stellar comeback season. Kyu-Ball threw another complete game, striking out 9 Pelicans on a two-hit outing.
The Randalls won a squeaker against Charleston today, even though the Swamp Foxes rallied in the ninth to bring it to a single run before being shut down by Darell "Big Kitty" Johnson. The high-spot of the game for the Swamp Foxes was Jennifer Hayward who hit a home run and scored two on the day, as well as a home run from rookie Molt Rise.
It was a rocking game in Long Beach as Winnipeg roared to an early lead on the back of a six-run third that included solid center fielder Melanie Corvus. Nanu Lycopolis had a solid night, going eight and a third innings with 8 strikeouts, showing that she is a much better pitcher than her 3-3 record shows.
The Bombers went back to form, showing off their offensive and pitching muscles in tonight's game. Offensively they were led by breakout star Ty Vulpintaur, who had another solid night for the Bombers, flirtng with hitting .500 and roaring into the MVP talk against seminal luminaries such as Alejandro "A-Bomb" Coyotl and Luis "Papi Gato" Marquez.
The Ravens continually find themselves behind the eight ball. Though they had a solid outing from many of their players including a surpise performace from Stella Grant, it seemed like the Tikis were just that better. The Tikis have found a captain in sophomore sensation Moana Rivers as the otter crushed another home run, bringing her average above the .400 mark. The Kiwi otter has supercharged the populace, fiercely proud of her islander heritage and beginning to lead the team in hakas before every game. With results like the Tikis' sliding into a tie for first place in the West, there is little doubt in the future of the tradition.
Another solid starting pitcher whose win-loss record belies her talent, the rookie Sandy Viper-Roberts showed that the Wheelers' rotation has a very positive future ahead of it. The young pitcher mowed down 12 River Rats, with the home Wheelers providing just enough offense this time around to garner her the W.

So proud of all that Moana has done! We've still got a ways to go to improve, but I'm very pleased with the progress we've made. Hoping to bring back the tradition to the islands!
