FAQ

Decided to put one of these together for information purposes and since I haven't posted a new journal in quite some time. So here we go!
Commission related Questions:
How can I get in touch with you about a commission?
Via note here on FA or through my email amyth.art[at]gmail.com
FA notes are preferred.
What are your commission prices?
This is a question I get very, very often. I currently don't have any set, however.
Why is that?
I wouldn't know what to charge in all honesty. This is why I tend to go with auctions as that allows the individuals interested to decide what they think my art is worth in a fair environment.
Will this ever change?
Eventually I'd like it to! Once I get to a point where I can produce finished pieces consistently and in a more timely fashion I'll be a lot more motivated toward doing so. I tend to take my time currently, however, and try and make sure I do my best on what work I do decide to accept.
I've seen you've accepted commissions though despite this? How does that work?
I have! Anytime this has happened the client approached me with an idea and an offer relative to what my auctions go for.
If someone is willing to pay a price fair or equal to what my auctions go for then I'm definitely willing to consider working for them and this has happened a handful of times.
What are my rights as your client if I were to commission you?
That sort of information is available in my Terms of Service - https://docs.google.com/document/d/.....MwV1AWWyw/edit
What subject will you NOT draw?
Pretty much stuff that is listed in my NO section on https://www.f-list.net/c/amyth/
But for a quick summary: Incest, scat, cub, diapers, watersports, herms, cuntboys, rimming and M/M are no-goes. Anything else feel free to ask about.
Do you do trades?
Very rarely. Generally I'd prefer to just commission the person I'm interested in or if I wanna make something for them, just straight up draw gift art. No obligations, no disappointments.
How about collabs?
Depends! If someone asks me and I think our styles could look cool mixed together I'd definitely consider the possibility. I think it would be pretty neat to do paid collaborations especially. Paid work is always going to be more appealing.
Do you do color commissions? i.e. I give you line art and you color?
I'd highly consider it depending on the offer and if the original artist is okay with it! Could be a neat experience.
Other Art Related Stuff:
What program(s) do you use to create art?
I use Sai and Photoshop equally. Photoshop primarily is used for sketching and finishing touches, while sai is used for painting and rendering. It's a workflow that suits me quite well.
What tools do you use?
I own a cintiq 21ux, an intuos 5 medium, and a cintiq companion and use all of them. The one I tend to use most is my cintiq 21ux though since I've had it the longest and it's what I'm most used to at the moment.
I also use a Razer Nostromo keypad for keybinding all my brushes and most used shortcuts. This tool has honestly made a huge difference for me convenience wise and I highly recommend stuff like it for speeding up your art process. Normal keyboards work fine as well, however, just not quite as ergonomic.
Have you ever considered producing a tutorial?
I certainly have! Mostly in regards to coloring. There are plenty of great ones out there already though so it would probably end up being a for fun type deal if it were to happen.
Did you go to an art school?
I took a couple classes, but I didn't find them to be very beneficial. Art school in my opinion is largely a waste of time and money. There are great online resources out there readily available that can teach you anything an art school can.

What have been some of your major influences as an artist?
Dragons of course! I pretty much have been obsessed them since I first saw one in the movie Dragonheart. Before that dinosaurs were my first true love. I'm inspired by nature and other various critters as well. Creatures have always been my main interest when it comes to subject matter and are definitely what inspire me most.
Stylistically, I've been influenced a lot by Magic the Gathering card art, animated films (western and easten), and many of my fellow artists. When I was younger I was really into super detailed works and high realism, but these days I find more stylistic and cinematic approaches much more appealing. I like to try and find a tasteful balance in my own work.
Other Stuff:
Can I use your character for RP purposes, or in a story of mine?
I'd really prefer you not to. It honestly feels very awkward to me when this sort of thing happens as Amyth is my representation and essentially an extension of myself. I highly recommend creating you own character and or species. It's much more fun and rewarding!
Do you accept gift art or commissions involving Amyth and another character?
Of course! It gives me all the warm fuzzies when I see stuff like this and it really means a lot to me. Totally makes my day when it happens! I only ask that if said gift art is explicit in nature that you ask me first before you go ahead with it unless you're a friend of mine and know I'd be okay with it.
As for commissioning another artist to draw my character with one of your's that's cool too. If this is something you might be interested in doing sometime, you can give me a poke about it. I may even be willing to split the cost with you :3
Do you use skype? Can I add you?
I do! And maybe. I'm generally pretty selective when it comes to who I add. Though don't let this deter you from sending me a note asking for it If you're genuinely interested in having a chat. I do make a habit of cleaning up my list once in a while so if you're someone who I don't really talk to I hope you understand. I don't much care for having contacts just for the sake of having contacts.
Any other questions you might have, feel free to ask!

SAME, except I'm currently very stuck in the 'high realism' (though you could very easily argue my work isn't realistic, but anyways, still stuck there. Someday I'll start making my art what I want it to be.
I can hear the jimmies being rustled.
Really the way I look at it is, if you're interested in purchasing something, might as well go with something the person you're buying from specializes in. The customer gets a better product and the seller gets to do what they do best and enjoy most. Both parties win. Hopefully that makes some sense!
If and when I do offer commissions again I might reconsider the m/m stance or at least give it a shot to see how it goes and to say I at least tried, haha.
I always found them so majestic. I love reading about them too. :3 Currently reading Eragon.
And I always adored Amyth. :3 I just, never got the nerve to actually tell you. I think you inspired me to create a dragon character. :3
I love your art too, very beautiful, you defiantly have a talent for drawing dragons. <3
