WORLD LION DAY
It’s a day more people should know about!
10th August is World Lion Day! - http://worldlionday.com
The idea here is to raze awareness as to how lions are doing in the wild, not beg for money.
I would be over joyed if artists, writers and musicians produced some work and upload it in reference to this day!
But all I ask is that people spread the word.
World Lion Day exists for this very purpose! And the lions really need it.
Simply put, lions are not doing too well.
Problems
Habitat and food loss is a huge issue as is lions getting shot for hunting domestic animals.
The low numbers means it’s hard for lion to find each other lions and so are forced to inbreed, that just weakens the species.
Even if you do not like lions they effect all other creatures as they are key to ecosystem.
If the lions stuffer so does everything else in turn.
But yes the reason for this post is to raze awareness simple as. There is no demand for charity or showing you shocking images or links to put you on a guilt trip.
So please spread the word, it will only take moments to post a journal or tell a friend.
You can copy and paste this entire message if you wish! - Quick! Easy! And now you can feel good for helping even in this small way.
Thank you.
If anyone dose wish to makes donations read on!
I would be a fool not to give some information for those interested.
First off The “World Lion Day” website has a big bunch of links for you to choose from here http://worldlionday.com/associates/ .
I’ve not looked at them all yet but my personal thoughts go to Lion Guardians ( http://lionguardians.org/ ) that turn past killers into protectors.
A simple radio collar and receiver, means a lion can be tracked and locals informed to avoid grazing there live stock in the area. This has already proven its self to prevented 100’s of lions being shot each year and they do a LOT more than just this! It is well worth a look!
Over all they appear to be very effective and are showing good clear results. I also read they wish to expand into other areas of Africa and so this is the link I have singled out for this journal post.
So if you’re willing and able they have a quick easy PayPal link: http://lionguardians.org/donate
Thank you.

does the collar help people know it's a protected one and help them find ways to deter instead of annihilate them? :3
The collar gives information on lion movements and behaviour ect.
Knowing where the lion is means people can tell the farmers not to move their cattle in that area for grazing thus reducing conflict between farmers and lions. It also means they can see if there deterrents are working in some areas and if a lions is repeat visiting one area hoping to find live stock or people as food. A problem lion could then be relocated if it came to it.
As to people just seeing a lion in the wild, the collar has no relevance. A lion is still a lion with a collar on. If the people are educated then there more likely to know how to get away from the lion without just shooting it. That’s why your see some of the donations from lion charities going into educating locals.
It’s nice to see someone else taking interest. =3
but yes, that is an awesome thing :)
