I have no way of reaching him. I don't know his phone number or even remember where he lived. I'm ffuuuuuccckkkeeddd. I don't even know his name. The title I got from him wasn't in his name either because it was an open title from the woman he got the car from.

Also I can't get my money back because it was specifically sold "AS IS" on my receipt. That means no refunds.

Idk I don't want my money back anyway because I've already put $700 in small maintenance and huge fucking registration fees. Scrapping the car or trading it in is useless unless I want to trade in my $1700 for $500 toward a different car. I have no money for that. My only option at this point is sitting on this car for a while until I have the money to replace the trans. The good thing about investing the money into a new trans is that it's pretty much guaranteed to last me a long time because there's no fear of it failing on me later. IDK it just sucks that I have to put in so much money into it RIGHT NOW instead of slowly over time.

He only told you like one thing needs to be replaced not a ton if things like more than you paid for the car in repairs you can totally go after him
Idk what to tell you other than that like a loss is a loss and it doesn't seem like this car is gonna function well even after the transmission is fixed

Fair enough! I'll make my best attempt to track him down. But again, I have very little info to find his name/number/or address to get in contact. I'll get a good mechanic to look it over for me- I found one on Bee Ridge according to some really nice reviews to go check out. And then if it's a loss, I suppose I'll have to suck it up and figure it out. Otherwise, I'm way too fucking scared. Also- the dude I bought it from is a mechanic. So if it's fixable, I'll see if he can at least find a new, functional trans for me for real cheap (they go around $200-$400 on ebay), then I'll pay somebody $500 to install it. It'll save me a shit ton of money if it turns out this thing can be fixed.

Well he sold it because he didn't want to work on it anymore. He's a mechanic by hobby. When I bought it, the tire was in pieces, so it couldn't be test driven for extended periods of time. And I didn't have these issues till I drove it around for quite a while. It's not an issue that's easily discovered unless driven for a while. IDK. There's not much I can do about it at this point but get his info and get it checked out like you said. :,<

Transmission slipping isnt exactly a sign it needs to be replaced, it could mean the fluid is bad and needs to be flushed and replaced, which I would do first before replacing an entire Tranny. If I can ask, what is the year, make and model of your car?

Absolutely. I always just find it safe to assume the worse at this point. It's not just the slipping- it's also the inability to shift out of first or second. I've never had an issue with reversing and when it does shift, there isn't any obnoxious clunking. So that gives me some hope. However, the car does tend to shake when started up after stopping it due to inability to shift. I also know when I'm about to have some issues when I turn the car on and there's a consistent clicking noise that increases as I increase speed. When I turn it on and there's no shaking or clicking, I'm usually in the clear to drive- with the exception of the occasional slip when accelerating. I'll check the fluid and check for smells/colors when I get home to it. Otherwise, the fluid levels were good when I bought the car a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, it's a 94 Buick Century. I'm going to get a good look at it whenever I can afford it. Because I'm really, really hoping I don't have to replace that shit- especially with the miles I've put on it while it's had this issue.

Sounds like what was going on with an old PT cruiser my Pop had, It was doing exactly the same things and once he got it tuned, the transmission flushed and the fluid replaced it ran smooth.
I'm not too surprised that it's an old Century, My folks had one and it gave them Transmission problems the entire time they owned it, so fingers crossed it's just bad fluid and a flush and tune up will take care of it.
