No, you don't want to use skype anymore. Trust me- it's the biggest pile of shit since msn messenger.

I have a skype for IRL stuff, and it works fine enough. The problem didn't occur until I tried to make a seperate account for outside interactions. Basically, the first problem came when it pretty much forced me to create a microsoft account (which is shit), and then I was not getting proper notifications and the like of that from it, and even the account popping up twice in the search bar with the one going to the right account, and the other going who knows where. Basically, it's been too much of a headache, and I'm done setting anything new up for now.

You dont need a microsoft account, you can still get an account directly from skype website unless they changed that. My normal skype still works.

That said, theres plenty of bugs now, always online, not notifying others of your messages, ads unterupting typing...

Not just ads interrupting typing for me. Ads causing skype to lag entirely and stop me from doing anything for sometimes minutes at a time.

Thankfully there is a workaround to block ads, note me as i dont have acess to the info on phone/work

I actually found a workaround already, oddly enough. Still a valid point.

My regular Skype still works no problem itself. I can interact just fine on that. The problem was somewhere back when I was creating the alternate account, something happened in the setup process that caused some kind of confusion. I tried my best over the last while to fix it, but in the end, it seemed best to go scorched earth on it until I can give it another shot.

I ditched Skype when microsoft finally killed support for third party messengers using SkypeKit that interfaced with it. I am NOT gonna install that NSA backdoor infested standard client on mah PC anymore @n@ Kinda sad that any alternatives to it are not yet fully operational.

Unfortunately, everything succeeding is pretty much regulated to big name software, or is it? My only hope is if I give something a try, it will allow me to at least do what I need the product to do. Still I don't know of there is anything right now that isn't untouched by Google or the NSA in some way or another.
