well, i normally work at 240-300 dpi (magazine quality) at a big size of over 50cm so can easily be poster size as i would work even bigger if need to :3

Hopefully the site is well maintained enough for that, but with it being open to everyone, its a risk you have to take!

It literally takes me less than 30 seconds to completely eliminate a troll and everything they've ever done on FurBuy. It takes them a lot longer to do their damage, and hundreds of people who use the site everyday have my IM info and let me know right away if there's some nastiness going on. I'm also working on new features on the site to enhance security. =)

Both of the people who are top bids are people I know personally so I'm not too worried about it. Zero rating just means they've never won an auction before or never sold an auction successfully. A lot of pretty big names in the fandom have a zero rating, and everyone starts with one. So it's not so rare. I keep a pretty close eye on things. =)

I don't even need to look at the link to know that it'll be popular, one, and two, you don't need word of mouth advertising.

if anything, probably the opposite. i was given the advice by a few people that i should not do too many commissions as it just floods the fandom with my art and eventually my artwork would become old the fact that every one would have artwork by me making it not so special to have my art. what do you think?

considering everyone's desk rises and their room starts flooding when seeing your art (even your clean art ;) ) i don't see your art getting old at all. especially with the amount of detail and skill you put into each peace =^_^=

I think once or twice a month taking a commission will not "flood" your work. Certainly if you did a lot of them all the time it would, but it looks like there's a high demand for your work and 10-20 pieces per year isn't going to change that. =) But at the same time, if you offer too LITTLE work, your popularity can also come down. Once you open the door to commissions, people will want them and if you stop giving them will be let down, so beware.

thats also a very valid point :3 its just with commissions its difficult to know what to charge as too much would scare some people off and too little, then its almost not worth the hard work. but yes, i should do commissions too for sure :3

Then the propper solution is usually to open like 2 - 3 auctions at the same time and that would pretty much be enough to show how much people is willing to pay for your commissions, considering that it would almost always reach the same amount (no less than 500$)

Don't worry about the "Flooding the fandom" thing. Honestly it's a crock... Pardon my french.

Most artists limit themselves commission wise based on their own abilities and stress levels. The more demands one takes, the easier it is to be overwhelmed and much faster to be burned out. Many artists also offset either the high prices asked for full commissions, by doing sketchbooks at cons. I've seen Dark Natasha, Kaa, Heather Bruton, and other popular artists do con stuff, and a few have gotten the pleasure of getting art from myself. But I don't think anybody will say Dark Natasha is not special.

Talent is talent. You draw some pretty awesome stuff, and even now you do alot of art. Your stuff will never be stale. At worst, if you took regular commissions you may have a harder time doing ridiculous commissions like this. It's 5 days left and already at $550 USD. That almost more then half my monthly income, and possibly by the end of the auction would cost more then i receive in a single month. That's a worst case scenario.

In the end, it's up to you, If you want to draw commissions, accept them, do a few a year, do sketches, and save the full color stuff for the big stuff, whatever you wish. It's really all based on what You can and want to do. Charge what you want, how much do YOU feel your time is worth. I know I can get a full painted, on canvas pic from Heather Bruton for $100+ after a 1 year waiting period. Actually I think it's more.. but yeah. Charge people what you wish. Trust me, while I'm already scared away from you, and sure you'll never be in my meager price range, there are still plenty who either a) make much more then I, or b) Feel that trading a few weeks worth of food is worth a pic from you.

I have contacted Paypal's customer service directly in the past and the only adult sales they do not allow are sales of pornographic CDs/DVDs, digital videos, and some magazines - and only because they can be bootlegged. Adult artwork is perfectly okay to pay for using Paypal, and I can't recall a single case in the last 2-3 years now where someone was disciplined by Paypal for selling adult furry art of any kind using Paypal. I built FurBuy and am on the admin team along with two artists who do adult furry art and use Paypal exclusively for their work and we've never seen an issue despite dozens of successfully closed and paid for adult furry auctions each week.

Isn't the inverse true? The pound is absolute crap if you want to buy anything in $, but it's good for selling. In the summer 1$ was worth ~50p, now it's ~70p. Your second point I may have to agree with though :P

Also, not to knock Zen's skill but I'm impressed it's currently at $550. I've seen artists with arguably similar quality do commissions for <$50. However, quality is not the only factor and art is a very subjective thing. I must congratulate you on your ability to get this kind of price though, and I look forwards to the end result.

Well i think it'd be nice to open comissions now and again. For people who dont want to rent rooms in thier house to pay for it. I'm not saying your art isnt worth it, just it pretty much annihiliates a ton of the market who cant afford panic driven auctions fueled by the prospect of never being able to get a comission otherwise.

I cant think of many things i'd enjoy more than a commission from you Zen though. Either way, keep supplying the community with your awesome art. The paw community too! :3
