Recommend Some Music!
Recommend some music for me! I've been listening to the same music playlist for the last year in a row or so, and I do add a few new songs to it gradually over time, but nevertheless, I need some new music! I can't promise I'll listen to everything people send me, but I'll certainly give at least some of them a shot :b So, tell me, what's your most favourite song of all time? What's the most unusual thing you've ever heard? The best song to drive around in a car to? To kickbox to? Whatever it is, send me a link to it!
The point here for me really is to listen to some different music than I typically listen to, but just in case you care, I tend to like:
- music in a minor key
- music with repetitive motifs
- music featuring long suspended notes, or instruments with drones
- music with a strong beat
- medieval music
- world/ethnic music
- baroque music
- dramatic, movie-trailer-esque music
- industrial noise/aggrotech
- musical fusion
- taiko and percussion
- dance/club music and general techno/electronica
Anyway, here are two from me: "Avanti" by Corvus Corax, and "Preliator" by Globus.

Also you might like Two Steps From Hell, Thomas J. Bergersen, Immediate Music, X-Ray Dog (all similar to Globus, movie-like music) and In Extremo and Saltatio Mortis (Corvus Corax with a bit of metal thrown in)
You might also like E Nomine.

And something new and different I came across on FA through the fanart of
Those are some decent artists in my opinion. Let me know if you check them out/how you liked them.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Daughter, Foxes, Of Monsters and Men.
Some popular Electro Swing artists:
Caravan Palace, G-Swing, Tia Brazda, Parov Stellar. Scott Bradlee's youtube channel covers pop songs in some similar styles and it's pretty rad.
The best song to drive around in a car to?
Definitely has to be Arty's remix of London Grammar's song "Hey Now" for driving at night.
I've always loved Arty's work (especially the few records he released under the moniker Alpha9) and it definitely has that 'driving at night' vibe to it. London Grammar has been a favorite of mine as well, and the combination speaks for itself I think. I would totally would drive around the city at night to this.
what's your most favourite song of all time?
There's so many I love for different reasons and that go well with different moods, but Jon Hopkins "The Wilder Sun" has become my favorite I think.
It's the first song on his album "Insides", the album starting off beautiful and relaxing before progressing into a more aggressive industrial sound, before bringing it back again with some beautiful piano pieces in the last couple of songs. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's an interesting journey throughout. The first few notes of The Wilder Sun get me every time it comes up on shuffle and I have to go and listen to the album through again :) Definitely holds a place in my heart as 'favorite song', those first few notes seem to make everything melt away for me. I can't stress how good his other work is as well, his newest album "Immunity" (Youtube) is absolutely fantastic, most of it being more rhythmic electronic with some beautiful instrumental pieces in the mix. Pretty much anything by Jon Hopkins could be by favorite song :)
I'll leave you with a few recent favorites of mine :)
Cubicolor's Got This Feeling EP - Super relaxing and progressive album with some deep house vibes. The first two songs have been on repeat recently for me.
Koda - Staying and The Last Stand - Probably my second most favorite artist of all time, lots of dreamy ambient tracks, and his vocal work is just awesome.
Forgive the wall of text, but I'm incapable of giving concise answers when it comes to music :)

So, tell me, what's your most favourite song of all time?
Oh, there are so many songs for me to gush over, but as of right now, I have found a deep and abiding love for the riff on Motörhead's "Dancing on Your Grave," and I also really like the bass on this song by a much more short-lived band: Virtue's "Hideaway"
Finally, the drum solo on Rainbow's "Stargazer" just totally melts my brain. Plus it has Ronnie James Dio on vocals, so that's a major bonus :D
What's the most unusual thing you've ever heard?
Budgie's "Nude Disintegrating Parachutist Woman" is probably the most eccentric song currently in my library that I know fairly well.
The best song to drive around in a car to?
Early Budgie is generally very good driving music, and so is Metal Church, but nothing makes me want to break the speed limit like Diamond Head's "The Prince." I love it so much, I even translated it into French.
To kickbox to?
Hah, I do not kickbox, but if I had to pick a fight song, it would likely be speed or thrash metal. Anvil's "Juggernaut of Justice" always makes me feel really aggressive
my recomends? something like one bright pearl by numina i think it was.
most of the things you might have heard on hearts of space from the 80s through the early 90s.
too many names i've forgotten. there are some things that were done by foxamore and posted on here, and some by sage taylor and some others.
ilean ivers, kimberly bass, the whistle binkies, marry youngblood.
i forget who did mummer's song, but absolutely love and recomend that one. (more celtic wiccan then celtic christian i think)
someone mentioned kitaro, that was one of the names i'd forgotten, yes absolutely great.
also lisa ray furikawa. i'm probably spelling all of these wrong.
some of those things with the cg animated instruments that play themselves, i'm really having a brain fart right now about what things are called.
(animusic, something like that?)
i'll second mike oldfield too.
pretty much i think you're talking a very similar taste to my own, except i prefer strange rythims, to strong ones. like ram bajims, some of those things from india.
and spacy things so textured as to not need rythim in the wastern sense specifially.
and the albums moody blues did with the london phil, and tangerene dream.
and rick wakeman, with and without yes, oh and claus shultze.
