Seen a lot of art that recognize from people here, to me furry isn't a problem. (obviously or I wouldn't here now would I) but the Objectophilia (Object Sexuality) that takes the cake, wow. Do people really want to have sex with cars and other inanimate objects?

I love when reporters embellish stories about things to make things more interesting. I left a reply I was so infuriated about the comment about us all 'dressing up' and 'having sex with stuffed animals'.

Granted there is a large percentage of content of homosexual nature especially for the "fursuit fetishist" community but Furries by general are not by majority homosexual. In fact I would say the community is probably about 20% straight, 30% bi with straight leanings, 20% unbiased and gay leaning bi, and 30% gay.

How is it that the severe minorities of the furry fandom (fursuiters, plushophiles... people who actually think they aren't human) were the ones who confidently volunteered to talk to the scared lady with the microphone and the camera crew at all of those cons, and proudly proclaim that we ALL are gay, fursuit-wearing plushophiles with identity crisese?

As a rational bisexual who just happened to watch a lot of cartoons in the 90's (Half of everything was furry back then!) I'd like to clarify that it is not the fursuiters, plushophiles, etc. that I have problems with... it's the dumbasses who agree to interviews with the media and TRY to make us all look bad. Really. Thanks for including me in that, random interview-accepting jackasses of the community.


And hey, tough break, ZC. Now that someone put some of your art in an article like that, you get to live with the fear of someone recognizing your style if you try to sketch something in public. Or at least, I'd be afraid of that if I was in your shoes. But I'm paranoid like that.

I dunno, I get the feeling that every subculture is like that to some extent. Media outlets gravitate towards the most extreme examples of a group, and the public in general has their views skewed as a result. Furries are all gay, video gamers are all sociopathic outcasts, anyone with modicum of computer knowledge is a malevolent hacker, etc.

Ehh, I'm too self-conscious to draw in public anyway.

The way they stereotype the furry fandom has got to be worse than any other fandom in existence. We're too broad a fandom to be equated solely to a collection of rare sexual fetishes. I mean, like I said, like half the cartoons on air in the 90s were furry. And so the media wants people to think that everyone who watches Darkwing Duck or the Thundercats is automatically some sexual deviant? Isn't that like saying everyone who watches Star Trek gets married in klingon makeup and language at a convention?
