Tonight I've noticed that some people are seeing really shitty quality versions of submissions to work I submitted tonight. They're seeing super low quality images full of jpeg artifacts that just look completely purile. When I first noticed this on a sketch I uploaded, I re-upped the file on the same submission and it seemed to fix the problem, on my work station at least. When I uploaded another image, it showed up just fine on my work station, but showed up as shit quality on my laptop.
There's a huge decrease in thumbnail quality, as well. I can't account for what's happening to this god damned website.

FA killer when
Since FA can't be bought away from Dragoneer(he has stated himself that he'll never sell FA) and therefore saved, it will die only if it's down too long or enough furries here realizes that there's better sites than FA. It would be especially good if the movement away from FA is started by some really popular furries since then other furries would join it easier and therefore it would be more effective.

And even if people hate FA with a deep passion, it's honestly the best site to get commissions from.
I'm not complaining about the site but honestly the people like you who WHINE about the whiners are more annoying then any other people on ANY SITE.
This is how a site SHOULD NOT work.
I honestly can deal with this myself. But I sure know that FA really isn't a working that good.
Also, FA being a free site isnt a valid excuse to run the site poorly and make decisions that endanger the userbase's privacy. Just look at all of the sites you (probably) use on a daily basis, how much do you pay for them? Nothing. Do you see rampant bad decision making and nepotism? No.
I'm free to call a spade a spade. And I'm free to point out to people who follow me here why they might see a very shitty version of an image I uploaded.
I was just pointing out the obvious and I love how everyone ran wild with it.

This has been the case for some years now.
you could even have pngs, but if they exceed the cap that FA states on its upload details, the pixels get ruined x:
i always re-size my images before uploading in here ^^;
I use png, FA doesn't seem to optimize it.. if you use jpeg2000, it would be encoded to load gradually step by step, like mipmapping of textures in 3d.. in case of poor connection or overloaded database loading may stop in middle
jpeg2000 originally was designed for _low_ modem speeds, to allow preview, or generate thumbnails with minimal use of computation power and bandswidth. It also may have worse artifacts than normal jpeg
To get around it I've been including links to the actual file using Dropbox in the description. Seems a lot of trouble to go through just to let people see the nicest version of the work, but there it is :).
I've been having to the same thing lately with any commissions I upload ^^;
