Ahhhh, Midwest Furfest

The only break I got from being an Alzheimer's caregiver this year.
It was a rather relaxing weekend, despite some bad setbacks. Most of the good things that happened were due to pure random luck.
I did get to meet the following people:

I also spent time with good friends:

The setbacks:
One roommate had too much to drink over the weekend. Due to FA's policies the roommate can't be named.
While drunk and having an argument over the phone with his mate, he just... stood in one spot blankly looking towards the area where macro-lovers gathered to do macro stuff, constantly denying phone calls about from his mate. This went on for over an hour. Nothing I did could help, though the following morning he got better and apologized to me and his mate for it, believing he did something embarrassing while drunk.
The following night, when he was in another room, he got so hammered that he vomited and couldn't stand up straight. In the meantime I waited for him for a long while as he and I had planned to do an activity together. I found him asleep in the bed, fully clothed and under the covers, laptop bag in his arms and his lanyard full of badges around his neck getting bent. I carefully set the laptop bag on the floor and the lanyard on the nearby table and tried to get some sleep. He awoke a few hours later and was in desperate shock: his favorite badge was missing, a badge that was hand-drawn by an artist that had disappeared from the interwebz years ago. We tore apart the room and couldn't find it; he feared the worst, even though we and his mate assured him that it wasn't gone for good, probably wound up at the con's lost & found. He was like all whiny and scared and trembling for several hours, until he I went to the lost & found for it. They had it, sure enough.
