On friday night, I had my last ninjutsu training of the year. Like each year, it was a funny training, and my sensei even came dressed as santa. I can tell that being beaten the shit out of you by santa is kind of special XD
After the training, like each year, we had drinks and snacks, our way to close the year. But during this one, my sensei came to me discretely and asked
"which rank are you already?"
"I'm 3rd kyu" I replied without thinking.
"no, you're not. From now on, you're shodan"
So here it is, I'm black belt now =3

I'm curious about your sport, but since I can't seem to find a way to ask in English, I apologize to the english speakers only and switch to another language ^^'
Actually, ninjutsu is the japanese martial art of the ninja, and it is more than 1000 years old. It was created from doctors of the time, who had great knowledge of human anatomy. When you know how to heal a body, you also know how to destroy it. In brief, this is the martial art of adaptation, based on an advanced understanding of bio mechanics and psychology. Some of its technics have evolved into different martial arts, like judo or aikido.
Ninjutsu is a really complete martial art (I'll skip all the possibilities like healing, discretion, and any knowledge that can possibly be useful to survive) that include nearly every way of fighting, from bear hand to all kinds of weapons like swords, staff, etc. it's actually more a way of being than a simple martial art, that teaches perseverance, patience, hard work, continuous improvement, and to some point, how to develop a sixth sense (for the record, the exam to get over 5th Dan is avoiding a strike from behind by sensing it coming)
To me, it has been a real use on how to improve myself. I used to be shy, with low self confidence, always afraid to try new things in fear of failing. But that's also the martial art that fits me the most^^
I personally want to learn Krav Maga.
I never tried Krav Maga, but from what I heard of it, it's really violent and it's common for people to get hurt during training ^^
First there are the reactions a person has when there's something threatening, like fingers close to the eyes make someone gets his head back. We exploit those reactions to sometimes defeat someone without touching him^^ For a layman, it is sometimes seen as energy manipulation, so to those who don't understand it well enough, I call it energy
then, there's actual energy I can't deny. Depending on the martial art, it's called chi, or ki, or whatever, but it's the same thing. there's an inner energy in every body, that can be disturbed. But I don't know enough to talk about it clearly^^ all I have are personal experiences^^
