-My 2014 started off on rocky footing. I was just getting settled after moving, when I lost a really close friend of mine,
LadySin. I've heard the quote "It never gets better, just easier", and I think there's plenty of truth in that. To this day, I still find myself looking to talk to her, and then remembering that I can't anymore.
-Things further went downhill in February when my mother fell and fractured her shoulder in several places. Fortunately, she made a full recovery, but she was out of work for six weeks, and I had take care of her in the meantime. Taxing, sure, but it could've ended up much worse, and I'm thankful it didn't!
-April was definitely a highlight of the year. As a severely needed gift to myself, I took a birthday vacation with
LupisLupine down to New Jersey to visit his mate
turrentwolfie. It was absolutely wonderful, and I still think back to the treks we did in NJ and a different (but good!) perspective of Manhattan than from when I was working there years ago... plus I got computer parts to build my first gaming computer (which still runs today!)
-For August, we added another family member - no, not a child, a cat! The first couple of weeks were tough for Nina, as she very skittishly tried to find her place, but now as I'm typing it, she's curled up in my lap. :3
-In September, I was re-admitted (re-re-admitted, for those keeping score) to Westconn once again, because the move and the loss of Lindsay prevented me from focusing (and good thing I wasn't going, since I was able to focus more on work and help take care of my mother in February!) I officially changed my major to Accounting since I was already working in the field, plus I had lesser faith in the Meteorology program at WCSU. I'm still interested in weather! I just didn't feel that I was progressing at all within their structure.
Considering how rough of a start I had to the year, things turned out much better than expected. I've grown closer to several of my friends, I've been happier and willing to push myself further than ever before, and I'm thankful for how everyone has played a part of my life this last year (and years past!)
