FURRY FIESTA Con report
Just ... WOW tha con was a blur of fun insanity and apples. Lots of Apples. Don't ask.
When Crys told me that there was likely going to be a record broken this year I didn't beleive it. I mean really the last time Texas tried to host a convention it was the Epic of Fail. Texas Furry Con flopped harshly. But not Furry Fiesta
I But when I got to the con and started making my way around ... I saw how wrong I was. There were so many furs at this first year con that it felt like I had just walked into a third year con. The 540 person turnout was INSANE. Every panel was packed. Even mine. When a filking panel is packed wall to wall and every chair spoken for you know the con was big. I have done a panel at RCFM and now I am staff there and believe it or not, I had more at my panel at Furry Fiesta than I did at RCFM.
Points have got to go to Istanbul and the entire Furry Fiesta team that made this con happen. This con went so smoothly unlike alot of first year cons I have heard the horror stories about. (No mentioning names) There were several people at the con that were coming to me and asked me how long the con had been running for. When I told them it was year one they asked why nothing was totally fucked up.
Gripes:
You knew there were coming:
Headless Lounge fans need to STAY in the headless lounge. We're FUrsuiters. We sweat. We are hot. Fans cool us off. I love the crew of Sub Level Three and I already talked to people and found they had no idea that someone carted off with my head drying fan from the lounge. So before that is flamed ... SL-3 DID NOT TAKE THE FANS AWAY FROM THE HEADLESS LOUNGE. To the person that did ..... SHAME on you. (( This issue was addressed and will not be repeated the next year. I have faith in the Bunny with the Pancake ))
The Video Room next to the Main Hall. Not even Furry Fiesta's fault there was another convention at the same time as us and they had the other rooms. Next year Furry Firsta will have more space and the video room will be in a better place. So The gripe was already handled. KUDOS!
The Dealer Den and Artist Alley were too small. Again not Furry Fiesta's Fault bit still a gripe. And with the aforementioned more space next year, this issue was resolved as well.
What is scary is that was all the issues I had that were convention related. The only other thing was Carpet Sample made an appearance and Security knew about it ... Handled the situation for me and aside from a minor stalking and the initial contact, he left me the hell alone. Good Job on the Security Team! (Details on this incident will NOT follow and those that know will NOT discuss. Thank you)
Other good things that came about for Furry Fiesta. Great staff. I noticed that the staff was numbered high enough that you could always find someone when it was needed. I would turn and just look for a staffer and two would be there.
Panels THE PANELLLLLLLSSSSSSS Crys .... FUCKING AWESOME. Okay you know how you will have A single artist do a panel for an hour at some point. Yeah. Not Crys. Not one. Not two. Not THREE ..... I think what ..... FIVE PANELS one of them being Fursuit construction? Plus she was on staff and worked security when needed? Yes the title Everything to Everyone was TRUE. I noticed that. Crys you deserve alot more than you get credit for.
The gaming room, though I was in suit most of the time, was as big as alot of larger cons and from what I have heard there isn't even a 'gaming room' at the younger cons. And this one had three TV's and enough board games to choke a horse.
FINAL NOTE:
To Anthrocon and Further Confusion. Prepare. The Party that is the Furry Fiesta has only just begun.
To All of the smaller Cons. GET ON FURRY FIESTA'S GOOD SIDE. This thing WILL explode into the biggest convention in the States. Texas Based and close to one of the biggest Airports in the country. DFW. And it's only a 10 minute drive Airport to hotel.
PREDICTION:
Year three. Need a bigger Hotel.

There were a FEW foul-ups to be honest. One was that several people's registrations were lost and they had to re-pay. Another is that the artist whose art was used on the t-shirt did NOT receive one, plus his reg was one of the ones that got screwed up. Very uncool, and while it might have been resolved had he brought it up with Isty, Sketch is a very passive person and didn't make the effort to. :< He paid twice and didn't even get a shirt with his own art on it X.x And lastly, the lack of one-day passes was a bit of a problem for a few from what I heard. Something that's gonna be resolved for next year more than likely.
As for my own personal gripes, I have very few. And those that I had, I can't even remember right now because the con was so fun.
Oh and Corsi? Twisted Saturday cartoons with men having juicy babies on wild waterbeds. Oh, and your Tits are Scenic. :3
This is an inside joke...i'm not sure we want to know about.... :P
Was great to see you again. Glad you had fun too.
Maybe if I get time off from the new job next year...
And if they need a comedian...
Next furry con for me will be Oklacon this year, and that one I won't be working. Will be seeing you there, yes? =^.^=
(Next con of ANY kind will be A-Kon, and I'll be working A/V Tech for it.)
I was so confused, thinking by "fans" you had meant people, not actual cooling fans. Took me a few minutes to realize what was really meant.
Ugh...Carpet Sample. *shudders*
... in MP3 format...
... I may need to get an iPod Nano...
