I have already contacted someone within the Anthrocon Board about this. I have sent a notification to Furry Weekend Atlanta. But this needs to get around!

The Marriott Hotel Board of Directors is looking to have total control over all Wi-Fi on their premises! If this goes through, anyone with a HotSpot on their phone who uses it as a Wi-Fi connection to the internet is screwed. Essentially, Marriott can make your personal connection to the internet, null and void. Forcing you to pay for their Hotel Wi-Fi. Which will get gummed up with everyone else in the hotel forced to use the same bandwidth.
All Conventions, not just Furry, need to be informed! We need to band together and let the Marriott know that we will take our conventions to another hotel chain! That we will not seek partnership or advertise them on our websites for potential places to stay. In fact, we may even put up a warning on our sites informing those who do choose to have rooms at the Marriott that personal Wi-Fi may be blocked by the Marriott Hotel, as a deterrent for con-goers!
