Yeah, but hard drives haven't changed much in the last... Well, almost 10 years now. So there's a high likelihood it'll work.
If nothing else, use the old hard drive an external USB drive and all your stuff will still be there.

I meant to ask you, do you have any links to the process of removing an old HD from a laptop? I dont want to fuck it up in the process of trying to remove it to hook up that SATA cable. Fuck, I dont even know what a SATA cable is.

In most laptops the process is pretty straightfoward, There should be at least 2 (sometimes 1) panels on the bottom of your laptop. Usually they'll be labeled or have symbols so you know which is which. One of them is for your RAM and the other should be your Hard Drive, You'll want to open the hard drive one. In some cases (Alienware and Macbooks :/) they'll have a proprietary method or large panel/cover to keep you from opening it and encouraging you to send your laptop to one of their service centers (fuck that) so what you'll want to do if that's the case is google your laptop's model number and find a service manual or tutorial on removing the hard drive. Once you have access to the panel where the hard drive is stored, In most cases it'll be in it's own propriatery caddy so hold the laptop in place, unscrew the caddy and remove the caddy from the hard drive bay, you will most likely have to slide the hard drive horizontally away from the connector. There will most likely be a pull tab for you to pull it up and out of the bay. Then place it gently on a nonmetal, nonstatic surface and (if you plan on doing this yourself) unscrew the caddy from the hard drive and remove it. You should then have the bare hard drive, If you have a desktop you can try and append the drive to your current setup, if you have a laptop you can invest in an external reader, but before anything you'll have to ensure you have a SATA (Serial ATA) Hard drive. The easiest way to think of SATA is a faster version of USB meant for Hard drives and Disk drives. SATA has two connectors, one for power and one for data. The power connecter is the bigger (longer) one and will connect directly to your computers PSU (Power Supply) and the smaller one connects directly to your Motherboard with a SATA cable. If your hard drive appears to have 26 gold metal prongs instead, your harddrive is Laptop IDE, which you cannot access without special hardware (something I specialize in) EG you'd have to send it to me and I can recover your data.

The older one will most likely be Laptop IDE, and the newer one should be SATA. If you want things off the older one you might want to do it through me, I doubt you'll have what you need to get your data off of it.

As far as computers go, I'm not the most savvy. Maybe compared to most folks I know what I'm doing but compared to people that actually work with computers Im fucking borderline retarded... Could you elaborate some on what the process for trying to recover data from the two nuked laptops would be?

Get a the smallest Phillips head screwdriver you have and unscrew the bottom cover or covers on both laptops. Take a good quality picture of what's inside. Use the macro setting if you have one. Then either post the picture here or email them to either myself or to Ashene.
Don't touch anything inside until you discharged any static electricity your body might have. Just touch a wall or something metal that's grounded.(including any innocent bystanders. ZAP!) XD

But take pictures. That way we will know what you have and not be guessing.

That would work, I was just gonna offer to pull everything off of it that you want for you, I have recovery tools in case there was damage to the drive.

If the HD has damage then I'd take you up on that offer in a heart beat. I really have no idea what I'm doing. Ive never worked on a laptop before, I'm just praying I havent lost all my old art.

Just be very careful if you're working with bare electronics and you don't know what you are doing. Make sure you're connecting the SATA connectors, make sure your hard drive is SATA before trying to connect SATA connectors, make sure you don't touch the logic board on the hard drive or put it on a conductive surface, make sure you are not charged with static electricity while you're handling your hard drive, be careful not to drop it or bang it around, visually inspect it for burns or charred areas that might indicate a short, and make sure you're careful when plugging a Boot partition hard drive into another computer with a Boot partition, sometimes windows has issues mounting one like that because the MBR will have similar ids and windows will ask you to format (erase) the hard drive to mount it, which would be counter intuitive.

Take the hard drive out of the old laptop and stick it in a USB Hard Drive enclosure. BAM! Instant back-up drive with all of your old laptop's data already on it.

Expensive eh? Not surprised. But hell, if they can run intensive programs well enough and are as durable as they seem to be made out to be, they may be worth it. Ive been planning on blowing a lot of cash on some kind of gaming laptop or desktop, I'll look into those and see if theyre a viable option.

And yeah dude... its a really comprehensive warranty. 50 bucks, 2 year coverage for everything but a laptop that is lost or stolen. Its not the manufacturer warranty, its some company that is associated with Walmart. I need to call and activate it though, I havent done that yet because Im dumb and lazy.

Electronic devices (especially some costly ones) can have polyfuses which trip protecting the circuit, then slowly return to active state. So once enough time had passed and every bit of booze had dried off, it might be worthwhile to try if the laptop still works. :3

Also, go grab that warranty!
