"Evil is only powerful if allowed to be."
A report of sorts as promised...bullet point style because I know most furries have the attention span of a spoon.
1.New suit debut of SabreJack was defiantly a new experience for me. A non speaking character vs. who i used to portray in the fandom had its challenges to say the least. however it did give my mate
a chance to come out of the shadows and have to speak for me. People who I have known for years in the fandom I'm sure I missed saying hello to because of my silence. If I missed you this year, vast apologies. Turning off
in a convention enviroment is no small feat I assure you.
2.A big thank you to
and his friend "Butler" for the tailgate of home made ribs and a new creation, pulled pork chili, which i can only describe as the way a true "manwich" should taste. Hermes would be so proud.
My guest for this culinary treat was the one and only
who said of the feast,
"I think my food baby is pregnant." Oh and butler, let me echo Quantum's statement here, your going to make somebody a great wife. Despite the gender confuse person who could not stop talking about their average at best fursuit aaaand how difficult it was to eat in...a good time and welcome break from the con was enjoyed by all.
3.Con staff, all top shelf especially security, HATS OFF my friends. I'm about 95.5% sure
had a lot to do with this.Your team had a daunting task in front of them and made it look easy. The best way to judge a security team is if you never see them, notice their presence yes, but not having to see them fly into action is another. I've been to a lot of cons all across the country and have experienced first hand how security can strong arm con goers, overstep their bounds, or just plain "phone in" the duties entrusted to them.
I for one had special needs for security as I brought my swords for a photo shoot. And yes, I made pre-con arrangements with Sable to insure my situation was on their radar. I could not have asked for a more courteous and professional escort assigned to my party by the ever watchful eye of the Gryphon. The "Lieutenant's" name on FA I am unsure of, but he was introduced to me as "Pestilence" so i thank you sir!!!
4.Food trucks, was an awesome idea. I heard many compliments about the quality and their prices. Everything i saw coming back into the hotel was being cradled like a newborn.
5.Artist ally-This year, another first. I found an artist who's work caught my ever so judgmental gaze. But, any of you who followed my former account know of the string of bad luck i have had concerning con badges. so,I had to give
..."the test" (you should ask her about it) never the less SHE PASSED!!!! turns out some furry artists are not afraid of money-pay attention to what you want-and OMG deliver at the con as promised...I had to have a moment to compose myself after i picked up my HILARIOUS badge she made. Props sister...you will be getting more work from me and the wife!!!
6.Unexpected events-moments that you never see coming, but teach you a fuck ton. As i was suiting I noticed a tall figure watching me. He waited until i was not posing for pics and greeted me with a gift art badge of my Rabbit. Hand water colored background and the character done in all white relief. It was only after Askari pointed it out that i noticed how carefully he had captured the con theme "out of the inkwell" so poignantly whether on purpose of not.
defiantly made me smile. If I didn't express it enough in person, Thank you again.
Another water color badge was given to me by my long time friend
who we spent a nice evening with...well if you consider the likes of
and her awesome mom discovering secrets about weird sex noises over 10 year old bourbon a "good time" then yes.
and his mate
What can i say about you two? I have known you as long as I've been in this fandom and somehow...we remain friends. The gifts you give to me are unspoken but when you show up with our favorite liquors it cements the fact you genuinely care.
Finally-I saw more people this con, young and older alike, experimenting with gender. From cross dressing to actually Trans, I made a few bungles by calling a she a he and so forth, it was a bit frustrating as I never wish to intentionally offend. I understand the need to be comfortable in your own skin, but its hard to re-identify people who you've known for a long time and they spring it on you mid conversation. It seems our fandom is branching out in directions that trend away from what "furry" actually is (at least to me).
I had a very different con experience this time, i have a new perspective from playing a more observational role, was very necessary.

I heard that you liked the drums at Mr. Sushi, I think you would have crapped yourself if you seen what 42, Snack-Pack, Keeper and I all seen the next day. They let about four drunken people, giggling so hard they could barely stand, use them. Despite the people using them they still sounded awesome. Kept hoping to run into you at some point during the weekend, I seen Askari a few times but always when I was running to do something else.

I felt so stupid. I had never seen you're new suit so I didn't even realize it was you until AFTER I had talked to you. I was so used to you running around in Oki and being cray cray that your calm stoic attitude kinda caught me off guard! lol
