Furaffinity bought! Worry and confusion.
Before I say anything. Let me link a few sources. https://forums.furaffinity.net/thre.....MVU-Discussion

This whole thing makes me very worried. Furaffinity is the major hub of the furry community, although there many other sites none of them even compare to the scale of FA. The focus of the site has mostly been about community, while IMVU is a community, but with a great focus on business. I have no idea how this will impact the community, but I am afraid there will be censorship and an exodus from the site hurting the community as a whole.
As reason why IMVU would buy the site make prefect sense. Looking at
Alexa ranking FA is in top 4000 in world and nearing top 1000 in the US witb estimated yearly value at 1.5 million. IMVU is under 5000 in world and is under 2500 in US with yearly value at 1.8 million. Looking at the data it is clear to see that FA is climbing very quickly with demographic on it side while IMVU is in a great decline.
This worries me even further questioning what the plan for the site are. Once IMVU aquire FA their value in ad revenue nearly double. I just not sure what to think.
I would glad like some people opinions on this manner.
I can provide for information later if requested.

Like anything on this site it is hugely blown out of proportion right now. People are freaking out but legally imvu can't touch the art it is mostly a business ploy. The url is the real value and they know that. Really if they have purchased the site they can't mess it up anymore that dragoneer did.

OP
They can try to marketize the site such as subscription or premium services. They can also try to limit content or what is acceptable. I am a bit worried about the future.

If they do that they know they will lose probably 90% of the visitors. They will more likely just fill it full of adds since they make more on them anyway. If it does die there is so furry or inkbunny and others too

OP
It would be very difficult since other furry site are not as large or as well known. I am just a bit worried and wondering why the site was sold.

Im guessing dragoneer came to terms that he cant run a site. Or that he cant fully fund it. That or he wabted a lot of money

From what I have seen I would guess the money. He is rather selfish to admit he can't do it so really not sure. I just hope they don't run this site into the ground.

A big point people are bringing up is, why did the site get requisitioned two months ago, yet they asked for donations a month after? I mean, it's pretty obvious that money is the motivating factor here. None of us are sincerely paying customers of this service, so we really have no say. Ballad is absolutely right to be concerned, in the immediate, changes would be bad for business. In the future? We don't know what IMVU will do, they have their own userbase and may take over the service for their users rather than the current userbase. Or try to sway the userbase into using the IMVU services.

Well I can bet there will be a lot of fmvu adds but really other than that we will have to eat and see I guess.

OP
They can also try to capitalize on this new growing market of Furries. They are a for profit company many they will try to make more money. The point of them buying the site is for the ad space and the possible growth of the site into something large. IMVU has seem to be in decline and the scripts they run on the site can lead to malware amount other things.

most of those statements make no business sense. Many companies make such promises when buy out companies the only problem is this is a community focus on community, but IMVU is a business, if they don't make more they will change to make money or maximum profits.
