Got Some Sad News Today. 108th Journal
This is my head.
Found out today that my uncle from Iowa passed away during knee surgery a couple of days ago. Don't have any details but suspect he was placed under general anesthesia instead of a local like my mom for her total knee replacement at the beginning of the month. They numbed her from the waist down for the medical procedure that lasted less than a hour in the operating room.
She is recovering well though and progressing through rehab ahead of most. Her doctor is highly rated and has something like 96% success rate, so that is good. I always heard surgery should be held off as a last resort. She had pain in her left knee for a long time and been taking painkiller injections directly in her knee. Those lasted a few weeks at first but the duration got less and less til he last shot only was only effected a couple of days if that. Plus didn't get rid of all the pain when it did worked. We was looking into one of those special knee-braces as seen on TV but the specialist we saw didn't think it'll be effective in her case as she had bone on bone in her knee.
Finally got the operation and she should be off her walker in a few weeks and hopefully pain free for the first time in a long while.
I have other news but I don't feel like going into them due to my uncle passing. Kinda out of the blue, didn't even know he had knee problems. And supposedly knee operations are pretty routine these days. Again, I have no details so I have no idea what sort of complications he had.

Even though I haven't seen him for a long time, he seemed healthy enough the last time I saw him. Still hard to picture him gone now.

Surprised me as I didn't think he was that sick.

OP
It was a neighbor down the street that shared the same first name so I confused him with my uncle. The neighbor's health was on the decline for quite some time so it wasn't totally unexpected but still a shock.

That's a really strange turn of events. Hope your Mom recovers soon from the knee surgery.

OP
She is doing quite well. In fact, I have a hard time getting her to use her walker as she wants to use the cane instead but she has a few more weeks to go using it as per the timeline the doctor gave. She even worked out in the garden today as well.
