Freaky Tuesday (Addendum)
I went to the dentist this morning. As I presumed, my insurance won't cover dental implants. After she examined me, she determined implants wouldn't work in my situation; where teeth used to be, there's all gum and no bone remaining. I'll know in two weeks whether I can get a metal plate with my coverage.
Meantime, my mom's back at Downstate Medical Center. After much procrastinating, she's finally getting hip surgery. Not sure how long she'll be there, so I'll mind the store while she recovers.

*hugs* Well, even though I know you wanted those implants, plates are better than nothing buddy.

My mom had bone implants in her jaws to create a foundation for later artificial teeth implants. Basically they cut the gums open and spackled on a bone paste and let it grow into place over a few months and, when solid enough, implanted metal pegs upon which the teeth could be mounted. It worked quite well for her.
