Perhaps it's my ignorance as a self loathing critic, but it seems that popular artists take it upon themselves to perform the job that people like me ought to be doing. They're always on about some moral (and more often political) squabble or another, and as much as I appreciate everyone's right to complain out the ass in a self righteous manner (I believe they call this "freedom of speech"), I've really gotten to looking at them like they're just another demagog conversing with the mob. Besides, they're putting me out of work and making me look bad.
