Thoughts on a musical challenge
So, I've been thinking...
Musically, I have been inactive for too long. My last musical submission here was probably about a year ago, and I can't think of anything new and good I have done since then. However, I love writing and making music - so why aren't I?
Maybe it's because I don't really have any reason to, and there are so many other things that can occupy my time without me having to work. Between movies and books and TV and games... I don't leave myself much time for my own creativity, so that's become stagnant.
So this got me thinking about Johnathon Coulton's Thing a Week. Essentially, he gave himself the challenge to create something every week for a year, and the idea appeals to me.
I'm not one for forced creativity, generally, but I want to do something to get out of the not-doing-anything I've been up to for too long. Doing something like the Thing a Week would give me focus and drive to actually make something. It's not something I could realistically start immediately - I'd need to at least get my creative juices flowing a little bit first.
I want to start writing and recording soon. I think I may try to get one or two songs done within the next month to help me get started. Then I'll set the task up - I'll make a page for it, facebook group, the usual kind of stuff that will get people interested.
I am considering a couple of options. The most probable is record a piece a week - either a cover, a full song or an instrumental piece. It can't just be a ten second jingle about nothing, it has to be something that has obvious signs of work gone into it so that I don't get too complacent or lazy.
So, thoughts?

I love you, but not immediately. More of a small burst followed by a regular increment, but with waning return, on love spread out over the course of eight hundred years.
