Convention?
So, 2015 may be the year I move past my fear of fursuits, get up, and go to a furry convention. Califur 2015 is just a few months away and is an easy hour-ish drive (or 2 hours because it's LA and traffic exists. Fuck the 405.) and tickets (or whatever they're called) are relatively inexpensive. Thing is though, there's no way I'd attend if I wasn't going to know anybody there. the main reason I do want to get to a convention type thing is, well, I've met a lot of really cool people in this zany sphere of the web called Furry and I wanna met up with a lot of them, doodle, complain about traffic together, hang out...Anyway, long story short...Anybody heading or thinking of heading to Califur 2015?

I would like to attend but I can't this year. Which sucks since it's only about a 40 minute drive for me. The year I did go, though, was fun. I would definitely like to meet you one day, but I'm afraid it won't be at this year's con.

That's a shame about this year! Would have been nice to meet up with a fellow from the macro sector especially. What was it like there year you did go?

Califur 2013 was my first and so far only con I've attended. It was a blast. Got to meet some furs for the first time that I had only chatted with online. Of course I was a little nervous because it was the most public I've been with the fandom, but after you pass that bump you're in the clear for a fun-filled four days. Also, lots of hugs. ^_^

I'd only go for a day, maybe two days at most, I can't give up my weekend mountain biking completely! ...Maybe pass on the hugs too. I'm more of a friendly handshake type guy.

I went to my first con last week. Was a fairly interesting experience, and though each con is different I found it's worth going just to get a look. IF you can find someone to go with or just talk to, it's even better.

OP
Apart from tales of theft or general crap that can happen at any large event, I almost exclusively hear of good times at cons in recent years. Finding people to go with is really my only worry (apart from getting serious heebie-jeebies around those costumes), and if I do find people I know, even somewhat passingly, are attending, I'll definitely be making my way there.
