Honestly, for the price, you could get some Hyper X by Kingstone They're Qpad QH-90 rebrands for North-America.) My BF has them and the sound is pretty nice, quality is there. More metal than cheap plastic (Ahem Razer.)

I got myself a cheap set of Razer Tiamat 2.2, they're good for bass. But I had to go through an RMA after just a month. Not liking their products quality.
Had sennheiser in the past, still got them. Only reason I changed them is due to the lack of microphone.

Avoid brands like Skullcandy, Beats, Turtle Beach, Creative. Products are cheap gimmicks most of the time. Razer I'd avoid too, most of their products are of poor quality and overpriced for what they are.

Forgot to mention, the HyperX comes with two set of pads, one in leatherette and one in cloth! Pretty comfortable. They also have decently sized drivers that do very well.

I love my Sennheiser HD 280 pros, myself. My first pair lasted a few years and only had a slight malfunction with them that led to me getting a second pair. Depends on what you're after though, as the pair I've got I wouldn't call a bass-heavy balance, more balanced overall, but I'd definitely recommend looking into Sennheiser in general. I just recently purchased the a30s for half off. I'm still waiting on them to come in.

I can't speak on the 30s, but the 40s are a wired version of the 50s. Amazing customer service. Problems came up 2 months after warranty (they refused to turn on), tech support sent me a FedEx label, got them back to me in about a week, free.

the 30s microphone is super sensitive from my testing. I have to keep the mic about 3-4 inches from my mouth to prevent it from picking up my breathing.
I can talk on the 30s. it works great for me!

I have a set of Tritton Kunai http://trittonaudio.com/prod/kunai_uni.asp and they're pretty good. Only problem is that they hurt my ears after two or so hours but they have great sound quality and are very adaptable for different systems. ^^

Anything by Razer. I use their Charcharadon/Megalodon model, which I bought four years ago, and it's still great. Super-comfy, very durable. I saw their Kraken model out in the stores the other day, and that looks very good, too.
