Well, I dont know where you are, but I pretty much had to cut ties with most of my irl friends for those very reasons, smoking and drinking. I dont party myself, sitting home gaming or watching movies is more my thing if I'm not working on artwork or doing school related work.

If the distance thing is not an issue for you, I'm down to chitchat some.

Heck if you feel like it note me for my Skype.

I have a fairly small circle, so there's definitely room for more.

i'm still trying to figure out how to sell my art ...i'm not completely sure how to start with even getting a following for it

the only other friend i have is my boyfriend, but our relationship has been on the rocks for quite a bit ... besides him i rarely hang out with anyone else...

Well I'm in the same boat you are art wise... no idea where to start but I can tell you where I ultimately did start and that's with pricing. Typically you wanna start fairly low on prices since you dont have a following yet, then most of it is just putting your content out there for others to see, eventually you'll gain a big enough following but it takes time and long hours of work. Id try to think up some ways to offer something none of the big name artists are offering to differentiate yourself from the competition. The biggest part is to constantly get better and develop your own style, create characters that have personalities that will attract others to you.

All of this is guesswork and stuff I've gathered based on my attempts to get my name out there, so take it with a grain of salt. You're gonna need friends and connections I would think to speed up the process but on your own you can still do it, too, its just less fun that way. =P
