Tenant-tive Months Ahead
I’ve been applying to veterinary medical schools and internships across the states for the last few months. Here’s the breakdown:
Vet Med School:
University of Minnesota: Interviewed, Rejected
Ross University: Interviewed, Accepted
University of Madison: Accepted
Internships:
Alaska Sea Life Center: (Marine Mammal Stranding, Marine Mammal Husbandry): Rejected
Milwaukee Humane Society: No response
Washington Rocky Shores/Tundra: Rejected
Dallas Zoo: Phone Interviewed, Rejected
California’s The Zoo Conservation Ambassadors: Late contact
Milwaukee Oceans of Fun: Interviewed twice, Rejected
Houston Zoo: Phone Interviewed, Accepted!
So I'll be heading 1200 miles south to Houston, Texas to intern in the Zoo's Hoofstock Department! I'll basically be a zookeeper and shovel the piles of giraffes, okapis, warthogs, deer, and horse and bovine species! Gotta say, it feels great to have a zoo internship to get experience and become more valuable in this competitive field. And I haven't even started vet school.
The internship lasts roughly 3 months, and I'll return home just in time to settle in to Madison and start vet school! Seems like life's tutorial level is wrapping up, and about time!
