Paypal drama... [Commisioners please read]
10 years ago
So there is all this drama about the new Paypal ToS and AUP.
If you are dealing in any sexual content you will be in violation of PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy.
Which means you will be fined $2,500 USD from 1 July.
So after reading up some more PayPal Acceptable Use Policy and finding the *certain sexually oriented materials or services* , I had a mini heart failure.
Digital Goods – PayPal prohibits all account holders from buying or selling sexually oriented digital goods, including downloadable pictures or videos, subscriptions to websites, or other content delivered through a digital medium.
So basically I cannot use Paypal for any adult related content any more...
Excuse my french, but well... fuck. =_=
I might have to put commissions on pause.
I don't know what to do now.
I live in South Africa and the country has a real plug up its butt for making it extra hard if you are being paid by people in foreign countries.
On top of all of that I'm still fighting with the only local bank here that "supports" Paypal to get my money out of it some how and its been like 6 months. *cough-monopoly-cough*
So as of now I can only use Paypal for PG content.
But what ells is there I can use?
Any services like Paypal that will be assessable in my country?
Or can one pay someone straight from a foreign bank to my local bank?

But to get this cleared up would be awesome.
I am not sure if that covers all or just porn porn.
Or would it be an invoice via Paypal?
You do get some seriously scaly people out there that have caused them some real harm. xP
Sadly the little guy gets crushed in the proses, but busy looking into this some more. =)
The $2.500 fine is new however, before that I think they would just freeze your account.
*sighs*
This is one of the reasons why I hate the hypocrisy of people holding monopolies on anything.
*hugs*
That's the only thing we can really hope for.
Send invoices and don't let the commissioner send the money and you will be fine... there are some idiots who mention porn and stuff when they send payments...
So if they say something you can give them a good middle finger with a smile
Now I must go see what my previous commissioners wrote. xD
Sadly big companies don't care how we see things. xP
It's simply a money exchange, no file is being transmitted through PayPal.
So just say something random in the "Purpose" field and you are good.
PayPal only sees the money transfer, not what you change out behind it :P (dropbox/private server/whatever)
Also well IDK if there is fraud protection on Paypal but Google Wallet has that XD
I think I will be looking into the invoice option for safeties sake, just in case. |D
There are 2 simple ways:
1) Tell your customers to not write in the note/title anything more but their username. Nothing that could be a clue for paypal - nothing like pic, commission, artwork, orgy, penis in the butt etc
2) Send invoices yourself and of course don't name what it is for ^^
Ermagerd you wrote to me in colour!!! Le~awesome.
Yes I will be looking into the invoice thing, it seems the safest rout to go. =)
All our savings money is no where near 25k (which is what it would be in our currency).
So the last thing we would want is to be fined. >.<
And yup, just use invoices and as long as you don't say it to paypal yourself, there is no way they get to know you draw penises :D
I can find nothing of the sort . :/
i had search in the (german) variant of the AGBs. ^^"
Invoicing is a good way to do things, keeps customers from accidentally divulging too much.
i personally put something silly like a personal password with each of mine. like "zibble or garfunkle" that I Note the artist with afterwards to confirm that the payment is mine. No usernames exchanged in the off chance Paypal can use that to track you down.
Its business as usual, but the downside is, now Paypal can fine you for it instead of just freezing your account. It's up to you to decide if the risk is worth it.
They can just get yous full name and information from that I would think.
"Gay sex commission" is not something I'd want to see pop up on a paypal payment xD instaban @_@;;
Rumor was if you even put "furaffinity" in the desc paypal could get angry
Just label it Art with an invoice.
There have been people locked out of accounts because when being paid for a commission, they put adult oriented words in the description. This has been happening for over 4 years.
Invoicing is the easiest way around this. Otherwise good luck finding an alternative payment processor everyone will want to use... ; n;
Its quite scary. ;3;
so basically never receive any commission work as a gift and always ask people for their paypal and send money requests with blank notes or something obscure if you must. (like if the person's user name had cookie in it might put 'cookies' in the notes)
Yeah, think Ill be doing invoices from now on. |D
I tried to look to see if there was any rules against selling porn and it doesn't look like there's any,
