when i first sat down years and years and years ago and badly wanted to start up a true Salamanders army i took a crack at it with all the hopes and dreams this young kat could will. starting with orkhide shade and working my way up to the bright vivid green. never in all my years has a paint scheme fought me to such a level i literally gave up on them for the moment.
no matter what i did the paint just streaked and rippled and never went on as a clean coat. i had to at one point go out of my way to buy a spray gun from games workshop to just try and finish up the land raider Prometheus i had purchused from forge world with salamanders doors. the green fought so much even with the spray gun that after i finally finished getting it all done right it burned through 2 cans of air for the spray gun and the spray gun itself split almost in half. though my little land raider turned out well in the end and I managed to finish it the horror of going through it has made me stay away from attempting to do my favorite space marine chapter.
i have considered recently though with the new paints being easier to work with to maybe try and go back at it.
another time i decided to try and paint a difficult paint scheme was when i attempted for the effect and show a friend do up a marine in the original badab war minotaurs colors of the bright yellow with alternating pattern hazard stripes... um no.. just no. will never try to do that again as i live up to my saying "if ya ever want to develop the urge to kill someone and be willing to go through it... paint that bloody scheme i dare ya"
Silky.
Have you ever understood why did the green was so difficult?
when i do mix colors though i try to have every paint from the base color working through until i get to the final one i want. in the case of this guys sword ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14968951/ ) i blended together and worked with 6 different shades of blue and white till i got what i wanted.
others have told me an easier way and works better would be for me to get a wet pellet(sp) but until i get it i use and do with what i have.
Cheers, Silky
