The Blood Kitsune
So some friends and I were talking about, then started working on a Pathfinder campaign, led by
anthrootterperson , who's own custom race encouraged me to make my own sub-race of Kitsune.
(Numbers in parenthesizes is the Race Points that each rule adds or removes, or in the case of the race it's self, the total Race Points)
Custom Pathfinder advanced race:
Blood Kitsune (11)
Monstrous humanoid (3)
Medium size (0)
Normal speed (0)
Specialized (1) +2 STR, +2 DEX, -2 CHA
Linguist (1) (Base languages common and Sylvan)
-
Racial traits
Fearless (1)
Sneaky (5)
Hatred, angels, archons (1)
Weapon Familiarity, katana, wakizashi (1)
Negative Energy Affinity (-1)
Emotionless (-1) -have problems processing emotions properly, and thus take a –4 penalty on Sense Motive checks-
=Brief, rough, poorly written description of the sub-race=
Many have implied that the Kitsune race as a whole has some tie to good outsiders, the relative commonality of Celestial speakers only reinforces these beliefs, however, there are always two sides to the same story. While there is indeed truth to the Kitsune having ties to outsiders, they're not ALWAYS good outsiders, rarely, a Kitsune will have a child with an evil outsider, said child almost never inherits the magic abilities of the Kitsune, including the ability to take human form, but rather a touch of their evil parent which, almost invariably means they have a hatred of good outsiders, utter fearlessness, and a supernatural ability to be undetected in almost any environment, and more over they react to negative and positive energy like undead and similar creatures, healing from the latter and taking damage from the latter.
=Blood Kitsune in Kitsune society=
In Kitsune society Blood Kitsune are particularly misunderstood, and are most often considered to be dark or unholy abominations, and even in the normally accepting and open minded Kitsune culture, and they're often shunned if not harmed or killed outright in their youths, and those that survive are so traumatized that they often become psychotic or sociopathic in their adulthoods. The almost assured chance of the Kitsune mother of a Blood Kitsune dying in childbirth does nothing to quell the dark rumors about the species, and is thought to have helped give them their name. Due to the stigma attached to them, they rarely learn about Kitsune society and even more rarely play a role in it, most that survive are taken to hidden monasteries to be cared for by the monks and maidens that typically care for such places, and while it's unknown how many such monasteries exist, the little known of them comes from the Blood Kitsune that chose to leave them to become adventurers instead of remaining to care for the monasteries themselves, and they do not often speak of their childhoods.
=Personalities=
Where most Kitsune are outgoing, curious, and generally positive and playful creatures, Blood Kitsune are typically quiet and introverted, often preferring jobs and opportunities to work alone or in smaller groups, though some few Blood Kitsune are more outspoken they oft tend to be more reckless and dangerous, this, combined with their reputation for being descendents of evil outsiders typically casts a shadow apon them even from those they adventure with.
=Physique=
Compared to most Kitsune, Blood Kitsune are stronger, but just as fast, though the stigma they carry make them widely distrusted, and it takes an exceptionally charismatic individual to overcome this distrust, though it is known to happen. Otherwise they tend to resemble their regular Kitsune brethern as far as average hight and weight is concerned, however they, unlike regular Kitsune, cannot change into human form, and typically have dark red, grey, or black fur, and while their eyes typically follow the outsider parent's, they often tend towards shades of red or dark pupiless eyes.
