Battle report, hostility. Rocketmen tabletop.
So, once again, my roommates and I put on our captain's hats and ignited our engines for another game of Rocketmen, only I didn't take pictures this time, and for added fun, Ome:
unlovedcoatwearer joined in the battle, using the same ships I had last time, to somewhat different results.
Andy opted for cargo light, gun heavy ships to start with, Ome had the same, balanced list I used last time, Chazy used the same list, and I changed to the evil Legion of Terra, with the mighty cruiser Carnifex, the rocket ship Cyclops, and the enormous Ganymed cruiser Dyson (which I called the vacuum for the duration of the game), and in reserve I had the rocket ship Merciless, and the mighty Interociter, with quite a compliment of crew.
Our game started similarly to last time, Ome, Andy, and Chazzy charged for resources, as did the Cyclops and the Dyson, the Carnifex, however, split off and turned left for Chazzy, and over the course of the first two turns turned Chazzy's mercurian rocket ship, the Solstice, into a burning space hulk, then brought the pain on her cruiser the Pulsar, while this was happening, everyone was scooping up the COPIOUS microids and mining their asteroids, for which the Dyson and Cyclops did very well for themselves, getting all the resources between them that I needed to bring in my reserves, although until the very end the Carnifex was the only ship to contribute to the fighting.
For the most part my three neighbors were peaceful, Chazzy essentially losing two ships early on really crippled her war footing, and Andy, despite leaking to me his strategy before the game to go full aggression, did very little combat, and Ome's cruisers the Phoenix and the Dauntless did quite a good job battling the Carnifex and Cyclops, but the latter withdrew after taking substantial damage, and was replaced by the recently-arrived Interociter, meanwhile Ome's ships the Firefly and Orion were engaging one of Andy's cruisers, but were about to be over run by the martian reinforcements when we called the game because Andy was feeling sick.
Points were tallied by resources controled when the game ended, surviving ships and crew, and enemy pods and ships destroyed, each being one point, and the winner of this melee, was by a margin of 1 point, ME! Ome was a close second, and chazzy a close third, with Andy, despite a somewhat weak showing, being a close fourth as well, only 5 points split myself and Andy for points.
The biggest thing I learned was that my instinct that the Carnifex would serve me well was absolutely correct, taking out a far more heavily armed ship, out gunned and out numbered by Chazzy's ships, and not taking ANY return damage in the process, I will seriously take this ship in all my future lists

TLDR: Simpler then BFG, less convoluted, a little less brutal.
Also, no tape measures, the movement and attack ranges are printed on ships' stat cards (though I tape measure so that the asteroids at the middle of the map are even distance from the starting areas)
I always knew the Carnifex would serve my plan perfectly, and all because of YOU!
