I am aware there are many writers in the fandom. As such I have at some times thought of designing a interactive program for people to use who enjoy writing or producing written works. It would be something very different to what people have used before as far as I am aware. I am not that familiar with what exists out there currently so I would like to know if what I am presenting here is of any use in creating. I would not take terribly long to program it (I could be finished before I leave next week).

The idea is this.

It would be a Standalone piece of software which comes with interactive "story packs". The story packs are designed in such a way as to allow for multiple paths or choices to be included in their design. It is a similar idea to "Choose Your Own Adventure" style books. There will be a way for people to easily put together these stories and combine the resources (images, sound, text, characters etc) into something which can be shared with anyone else willing to download the software too.

The basic system is this, you have the following resources included:

Character Files.
Choice Files.
Narrative Files.
Audio Files.
Image Files.

How you would use these resources:

Create Character Files, in these files you define their text box attributes (text colour or text box settings, character name, maybe even emotional states, description of the character, and other information and traits).

You reference Character's (automatically uses their files and information) in your Narrative and Choice Files. You can in both those files update Character Files perhaps...

Choice Files usually consist of branching points where the user interacts by picking what happens in the story. They can play audio files and show images.

Narrative Files can also play audio or show images like Choice Files only the interaction is limited to hitting (NEXT) after reading each part. They generally contain the bulk of the text of the story and Character interactions.

Choice Files lead to Narrative Files which lead to Choice Files and eventually end with Narrative Files or maybe even loop back to other files if so desired. This including resources like Images or Sounds could be a nice interactive experience.
