Final Thoughts: Patreon + Kate
After two journals, a single 'no' comment on each, and some thought, I have decided against making a Patreon. I don't DO anything, it'd basically just be a tip jar for people who like the sort of stuff I commission. Which I know won't work, because I had a paypal tip jar going for a while and nobody cared. Which is cool, I'm not some kind of dick who's going to go on a big, off-putting rant over not receiving free money to do stuff I was going to do anyway.
I am also closing commissions indefinitely. Leaving the ** ****** **** fandom killed something inside me, and my creative output (both visual and literary) has been reduced to a crawl. I won't be opening for commisisons again until I'm confident I can make a reasonable turnaround. Which may never happen.
Instead, a new idea: ebooks. To help finance future commissions, I may begin self-publishing erotic ebooks. They'd be, at most, $1 apiece, and I might even include illustrations (most likely from
mosa). If I do this, I won't be using any of my core characters. Stories and images involving them will still be freely available to my followers. My premium stories would have a separate setting and a separate cast, if there is any continuity. I'm still mulling over how to actually make money on ebooks (because if I sell at least one, it will be publicly available for free online shortly after), and whether or not to forego pornopgraphic illustrations so I can sell on the kindle store and potentially reach a wider audience. Might not even get around to writing a premium story. I have to wonder though, how many of you would buy an ebook from me if I made some available?
In other news, I've mulled over some comments on my previous journal (particularly those made by
vincon), and I've reached a conclusion. The answer to my question is that Kate is homosexual, dicks or no dicks. Furthermore, the question shouldn't have been asked in the first place, as it was asked from ignorance. Not only the way I asked, but the question itself assumes that it isn't normal for women to have penises (the implication being that non-op transwomen can't be normal), or that women with penises are somehow fundamentally different than women without penises (again, with the same unfortunate implication). I apologize to any followers who were bothered by my ignorance.
Additionally, it would be a dumb question anyway even if it weren't transignorant. I already use parenthesis to mention a preference whenever I identify a character as pansexual in a bio or info sheet. Literally all I'd have to do to declare Kate's love for ladycock is list her sexual orientation as "Lesbian (Prefers Dicks)", or something to that effect. She's not a special kind of lesbian for liking weiners, because the women she loves are women.
The very next thing I commission needs to be an illustration for Discoveries, because that's almost finished, but after that I'm definitely getting some Kate art done. Still working out a design for her mousegirlfriend, but she's definitely going to be a mouse with a big dick (because I am predictable as hell).

I hardly think you could consider it transphobic. Phobia indicates a fear or loathing of a thing. I'd say perhaps you came more from a transignorant place, which most people should understand is not intentionally offensive, especially since you learned something.
