How long does it take?
This is the beginning of my Journal.
How long do you look at a picture before you give it a fav? Do you just know? Do you just rampantly fav everything from a certain artist? what does it take to make you want to fav something? I feel like it's different for every pic I fav. And I don't fav very often. Sometimes, if I want to deconstruct the work (red line it, throw a quick paint job on it for practice, see what techniques I can pull out of it) I just save the pic and don't fav.
What does it take to get a comment? I have to say, a lot of comments I see on here are short and typical revolve around how someone wants to bone said character. But really, what does it take for you to comment on a pic? For me it has to evoke something, some kind of strong response--mainly because I hate it when people dump stupid comments about sexing up a picture on my stuff and so if I'm going to take the time to comment, it's got to be about something I like. A lot. But more so, it has to be a pic without many comments because I'm sure there are artists on here that get upward of 100 comments a day. I have the luxury of reading every comment, but peeps who do this for a living probably don't. So I'm not going to waste my time commenting on a pic that will never get read. Maybe it's just me, I don't want to bother with a comment if I don't think it won't elicit a response.
Your thoughts?

Like... REALLY quick. If there's a lot of elements in a picture, or something that really stands out, I have to fave it.
As for comments, it depends. If the artist tends to reply a lot, then they deserve a comment. I totally agree, what's the sense of taking time to say something if the artist doesn't respond? :/
If the submission is something actually personal, rather than the title as "Commission Title" an the description is "." then I'll comment. If someone asks for critique, then I'll do my best to do so within reason.
I've been trying to comment and be more active on the site, so if there's a submission that has a small amount of comments in comparison to the mass amounts of favorites, then I'll make the effort to share my thoughts.
Once in a while I'll run across something really interesting by an artist I haven't been watching and I'll hold the page aside if its rating doesn't fall within my current cluster of favorites, until I'm once again faving pieces of that rating. Many times I'll fave a piece or two, knowing that from time to time I go through my favorites without matching watches to see if the artists have produced more material that appeals to me. Sometimes it results in a watch, sometimes it results in a couple more faves, and sometimes I find that the artist hasn't posted anything else in a couple of years or more.
Then there's something that impresses me so much, that like above, I hold off on faving, but in this special case I'll wait till I've used up the current batch of faves in the matching content rating, and then fave it--so it stays at the top of my fave list for an extended period of time (like the current occupant of the top spot :) ).
Comments and questions I do, although I do sometimes look at the comments received/comments made ratio to make a determination as to whether my comment might get a response. (My ratio is biased toward comments made)
I'm rather a gut-fav'r; pics get some emotion from me. I've done kinky things IRL, so I tend to be critical of others' work. IRL I'm a greymuzzle; I'm well over the adolescent fascination with nudity.
Some folks seem to fave anything with bare bodies. OK for them. But I've seen nudes and kept them so, with their permission. Take a pic in the mirror; it's the same parts.
I hope people who post are self-confident enough not to need "ooh it's the best pic I've ever seen" kinda comments. People become better artists or writers when confusing shading or plot holes are pointed out.
Thanks for posting and mentioning deconstructing someone's work. I think asking a question or putting oneself in the scene is a compliment.
Thanks for readng
