Music meme: What was the first song you remember hearing?
Men get arrested.
Its been awhile since I did much on this website, honestly. My presence has kinda faded, and I dont know why. Just feeling kind of absent-at-heart lately. FA no longer has the pull it once did...
But fuck that. I wanna post something, and maybe start a meme, because this sounds fun. If you like this idea, go ahead and repost it so more folks can divulge their early childhood memories on the Internet hahah! Lets have a bit of dumb fun.
Earliest memory of ever hearing music where you recall the song itself.
What was the song?
Do you remember your surroundings?
How'd you feel?
Annnnd what age were you?
What is your jam today? (And what age are you now, if you are willing to share that information.)
As for me, it's as follows.
What was the song?
Some good 'ol Thorogood. Jesus, its kind of ironic for me. Set the tone for my whole life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9bOsdHckhg
Do you remember your surroundings?
Rocking out in a fucking kiddy seat in the back of my parents Mazda Protege.
How'd you feel?
Pretty happy, only God knows why. I think we were going to a grocery store or something. Ironically, part of the reason I liked the song was, as I later told my mother (Who wondered why such a juvenile child would like a song such as that) was because "It made me think of wolves."
Annnnd what age were you?
Dude... I'm not even sure myself. I was around three I think, maybe two. But it's one of my earliest, foggiest memories. XD
What is your jam today? (And what age are you now, if you are willing to share that information.) I'm 23. And a little too bitter for my age. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufI8qyR-Sx4
But that's enough on me, what about all of you? c:

My favorite thing about that is Chubby's a really sweet, decent guy and I've been told I take after him. I'm grateful my adoptive aunt & granma got me into him. I'm 40 btw.
Also-nothing wrong with a little healthy cynicism just don't let bitterness eat its way inside you. There's a lot of bad out there sure but there's a lot of good out there, too.
That's an awesome story, though. Chubby sounds like a fun dude. I wonder what he'd think of todays stuff like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjKtBFjRZ40
And nah, bitterness is something I think comes home-bred for me. I'm just a very cynical person. But I never say the glass is half full or half empty- The glass is simply at half of it's maximum capacity. hah!
As far as the video I think he'd dig it. Some nice moves. When I was a kid my older cousin was a DJ who worked a bunch of nightclubs around RI. He would take me with him and let me spin records/work the lights. Rap and hip hop was just starting to get big at that point and I got to spin records at shows featuring the Fat Boys, Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Whodini, Beastie Boys & Kurtis Blow. I was huge into all that stuff and watched every breakdancing movie I could get my hands on.
I do not have the moves though lol. I love watching stuff like that. I'm amazed at the timing and artistry involved. It's so cool that dance is still such a huge part of culture.
I was laying down on my mom's bed in her room looking up at the 80's rock posters on the walls, while my mom and her best friend were in front of the mirror doing their hair and putting make-up on. The radio was on and I remember being stunned when that song started with that voice and then when the band kicked in, I was just a happy little kid enjoying real music. I was like 4 years old when this happened.
Oh man how I wished I was back at that happy time of my life, where I had no worries and was able to just enjoy myself and have fun listening to good music.
My mom's the reason why I love music so much. She'd always had music playing when growing up and it's why I enjoy 80's Rock/Metal and Old-School Funk/R&B music so much. Yes she listens to both sometimes at once. XD
Now I'm 24 and I'm still jamming out to 80's Rock and Old-School R&B, plus the addition of a bunch of electronic music (90's - early 2000's though, not that annoying noisy crap of today) that I got into myself.
Guess you could say you were someone born just a hair to short of his decade at heart, I suppose?
Earliest song I can remember was Hit Me One More Time by Brittney Spears :x
I was in my sisters room listening on her beefy CD/radio, making stupid poses during the song
I was around 5. Felt fucking pumped as hell.
I'm 20 now and as of recent, I've been into funk influenced Alternative, like DjangoDjango and Talking Heads. Also been listening to Gorillaz. Still trying to get into other music. Its a slow process.
I remember that shit. Cant recall how old I was at the time. Probably like six or seven. It came out in 1998.
Eh, just keep trying new stuff and dont tell yourself you dont like something if you listen to one or two bands from that genre. I very much prefer metal and rap as a whole, but there probably isnt one genre of music where I cant find a single song I'd enjoy.

What was the song?
Good old MJ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crbFmpezO4A
Do you remember your surroundings?
Living room, sitting on the floor. We had a videotape of Michael Jackson with all his videos and stuff. probably some interviews and stuff as well eventhough i dont remember those. I used to watch it all the time
How'd you feel?
A bit spooked by the visuals but interested at the same time. I loved the shit outta MJ at the time, and did for quite a few years. I even had a flag of him on my room at some point kek
Annnnd what age were you?
About..3?..4? probably
What is your jam today? (And what age are you now, if you are willing to share that information.)
27. Only the finest NSBM
Those visuals are indeed disturbing, though. Id not reccomen Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel.
Oh yeah, Sledgehammer is also pretty sweet, though I wouldnt come across that one a until a few years down the line. Gotta love that late 80's visual experimentation
looking at this MJ video though.. it includes some of my current major interests, like stop motion animation, dog-headed people and spooky skeletons...wonder if it had anything to do with it... human psychology is pretty weird.
I wonder what people of that time would think of the music our generation enjoys. I's even more trippy when the gap is considered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5qnyrCec5w
My tastes changed a lot since then. Went through phases like you did. Now I listen to fucking... I dont even care. Just about anything that sounds good to me. Whitechapel, Abigail Williams, Maroon 5, Eminem, Memphis May Fire, Agalloch, Burzum, Johnny Cash or Kanye West. But at the end of the day, it's usually metal, rap or alternative I guess.
