Doug Winger is gone.
For two weeks Doug struggled to breathe in the critical care unit, and this morning they took him off the machines. At 1:20 p.m. he passed away, his heart and lungs just wore out.
Sorry guys.
Sorry guys.
FA+

As I've said, he touched and influenced everyone on FA in some way.
Condolences.
*lowers his head and closes his eyes*
I'm terribly sad to see him go. While I didn't personally know him, it sounds like he was genuinely one of the kindest, smartest souls out there. I wish him peace.
He will never be forgotten, he had such a huge impact in the fandom...
This is a very sad day.

Well, that was the best solution, to let him find the paradise of artists.
But well. One will wonder why I hate the cigarette lobby so much...
Best wishing to you as well as death is never easy for those left.
Rest in Peace, Doug.
Thank you for everything...
R.I.P. dude..say hello to jim hardiman for us will ya?
Still, he was the first furry artist to ever catch my attention, and he had a huge impact on my relationship with the fandom and my "furry" identity. May he rest in peace.
I imagine if anyone here drew his characters mourning the loss of their creator, like Pandora, or any of his other gals he created.
He was easily my greatest inspiration early in my Furry days.. And our naughty pun wars back in the old Herm Haven have given me a long appreciation of puns in general. I didn't know him as well as I'd have liked, but I'm happy to have talked with him as often as I have.
We've lost a Titan, but he certainly had a long legacy. His meaty contributions injected the fandom with fertile ideas and a burgeoning swell of inspiration to pound them out on pixel and paper.
Whamadoodle.
u.u
least he's not suffering anymore, and his insperations will never die
Condolences to everybody who enjoyed him.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
A furry scene without him would be a different place.
Never met him, but I am aware of his works and all the people he's inspired.
Rest in Peace, Doug.
May he find new adventures in the hereafter.
We all got to say goodbye, in a way.
Goodbye Doug, and thanks for everything.
I am incredibly sorry for your loss Dustmeat, and my condolences as well to anyone who knew him personally.
Thanks for making us smile and laugh, and showing us that if you're going to do something you love, you might as well have a lot of fun doing it.
R.I.P Doug.
And once again Thank You both for being there for him when we couldn't.
Doug's art was inescapable during the early days when I was just learning about furry fandom. His artistic influence will stay with many.
I hope you have fun and eat much Abodanzza Pizza.
Thank you and others, at the same time, for making sure he got the best possible care at the end and was surrounded by his friends to the last minute.
He was a legend and icon of the furry fandom, and whether you laughed or cringed when his name or art were mentioned, odds are you still knew who he was and what he was known for, even if you’d never personally set an eye on any of his art yourself.
Rest well, Doug.
Cheers dude.
My condolences to his friends and family.
Rest in peace.
I hoped it will work out...
He was just about one year older than me (I'm 57). That's not so old, is it?
Aol's long ass shrieking and raging static sounds while establishing an Internet connection would often betray my efforts and dad would know i was online. I'd constantly have to look over my shoulder so he wouldn't see me scroll past a Doug Winger thumbnail! 😂
Always loved his wild sense of humor, and he'll always be finally remembered by this yote.
