For those of you interested in the game, but turned off by monthly subscriptions, you may be interested to know that Wildstar will be going free to play in the fall.

But the short version is:
- No money required. The client will be free to download, and there will be no required subscription.
- Content will not be restricted. Free players will be able to see and do everything that paid players will have access to.
- Free players will have limited character slots, costume slots, auction house & commodity exchange listing slots, and bank slots.
- A subscription service will be available, which will provide various cosmetic and convenience perks
- Subscribed players will have access to current numbers of character, auction & bank slots.
- An in-game cash shop will be available for account upgrades, convenience & cosmetic items
- There will be an in-game currency which will give free players the opportunity to purchase cash-shop items through alternate (albeit slower) means
- If you have previously purchased a copy of the game, as long as your subscription is active when the game goes free-to-play, you will keep the full number of character slots. These will remain, even if you decide to revert to a free account later.
- Accounts which are active before the F2P launch will also receive a few cosmetic items.
