If you've been interested in playing Wildstar, but the subscription model was a turn-off for you then this could be what you've been waiting for!
As of midnight tonight (12:00am EST, Tuesday, September 29th) Wildstar is going Free to Play. You can download & setup the client now at https://www.wildstar-online.com prior to activation, so that you'll be ready to go once things go live. No need to purchase an account or anything.
If you're interested in playing, but concerned about the possibility of heavy restrictions on free accounts, it's actually a fairly reasonable system. Free players will have no restrictions on access to content; they'll still be able to do all the zones, dungeons and raids that premium players have access to. Primarily, premium service will be for cosmetic & convenience purposes. Similarly, there will be a cash shop available, but again, it will primarily revolve around convenience and cosmetic items. All items in the cash shop will be also purchasable using "Omni-bits", a currency which also drops in-game, so it's still possible to obtain anything in the cash shop without putting a dime into the game, if you've got the time on your hands.
Free players will have 2 character slots available and limits on how much bag space, bank space and cosmetic costumes you're allowed to have set up, but unlocks can be purchased through the store if desired. (In all honesty, you can get by with what you're provided by default)
If you were a previous subscriber, but stopped playing prior to F2P, you'll still have various unlocks associated to your account -- character slots, bank & auction slots, costume slots, etc. -- and you'll also receive various perks based on how long you had subscibed. (Bonus XP, currency drops, etc.)
Anyway, it's all pretty much risk-free at this point, and there's gonna be a whole smattering of folks starting up, so it's a good time to get in! We also have a community established on Entity's (AKA, the PvE server) Dominion faction. If you decide you want to play there (Which you should. Because Chua. ) feel free to shoot off a FA note or shout to Bootz and you can exchange contact information. He can help get you an invite our little circle.
Similarly, if you run an Exile community on Entity, or on any of the other servers, let us know and we'll plug you here!

Although I have been wondering if I should start up a new character or not. I feel that I am too low a level to play with the big boys, but too high a level to play with the new players...
That and I want to make a character more like the one I was during the Open beta:

I've got a friend that is interested, so I'll see if I can't drag him along. (Bonus points if I can make him play as a Chua.)
Hahaa... Definitely see if you can bring your friend along, it's a game you definitely want to have a solid crew for. :)
But yeah, if you're playing on the PvE server on Dominion side, make sure you hit up Bootz with your contact details and we can get ya into the circle. :3
