So my mother in law...

Just found one of the copies of our marriage certificate in the back of our car while visiting. We have been marred for some time now now (Colorado is super trendy that way). We didn't tell her <.< >.>
So that was a thing, a lot of happy crying, explaining why we didn't tell her (SUPER RELIGIOUS) and all of that. We were planning on having the wedding at a later date, but why not take care of the tax stuffs early on? So, thats a thing.

It went fine, she was so happy for us, it was just like... So... now you know, we weren't planning on telling her for.. a few months.

Sorry she found out the way she did, but at least it's out in the open now and these things are typically better early than later.
Well, the plan was that we would be married, but break it to the family in steps, so a proposal, wedding (we havnt had the pomp and circumstance yet) and have that be the thing. All we did was the paper work for the health and tax benefits now.

Wish I could say my own family is as understanding. The rhetoric on Facebook my sister and her husband indulged in after SCOTUS handed down its ruling was insulting at best.
