sometimes I feel bad
that like 90% of my furry characters are lesbians. Oops.
I say that, but I'm making more lesbian characters right at this moment, lol. I keep intending to make more varied characters (including some actual male characters) but they never seem to stick... ;;;
I often feel that gay boy characters are MUCH more prevalent. Anybody else feel the same way? I love cute gay characters too, but my lesbian army is definitely the overwhelming majority of my ocs, lol.

2. Make him look girly
3. ???
4. Lesbian boy
yes....
I'm not a girl just because I like pretty things or behave in a way American culture (currently) thinks of as effeminate. Not that there's actually anything wrong with being a girl, but calling a boy a lesbian/girl just for being pretty is kind of... bad. A girly-looking guy's gender is still male, and implying he isn't is inaccurate and possibly very triggering (to trans guys in particular).
I know this was probably meant as a joke! But there are enough misconceptions about gender, gender roles, and sexual orientation around already that we don't really need more even as jokes, y'know?
Art doesn't exist in a vacuum. Good representation can give people who need it a voice, and bad representation can hurt causes further - art ABSOLUTELY influences public opinion and reflects the values of those creating and consuming it. As an example, I've seen multiple stories of people in the furry fandom who were treated as objects when they came out as trans because of how the fandom treats 'herm' characters - they're not well-rounded PEOPLE, but sexy things to fetishize and fuck. I have zero issues with people making porn that makes them happy with any combination of genitals, but people's toxic views are present in their art. And what do you think happens when people see their favorite artist including problematic things in their art (at least, without a disclaimer that it's bad)? The viewers' harmful views are affirmed, whether the artist meant it as a joke or a critique or actually meant it.
Like. Seriously. I know your original comment was a joke and wasn't that bad comparatively. I GET IT. That doesn't mean people can dismiss things with 'OH, IT'S JUST ART' and expect affected parties to be happy about it. Honestly, it's kind of scary when people don't understand why this is important. Social stigma can cause people to literally KILL themselves. :C
(OMG Capri sorry for clogging up your journal with text walls. ;~; I figured this kind of talk is okay here though since you were talking about demographics in the fandom and it's kind of tangentially related? Please tell me if you want me to stop though!)
I agree that there seems to be more gay male couples so idk i guess i'm less interested in making them myself since theres so many on the internet already lool
Most of my characters are bisexual, it turns out, so I can relate XD
cute somewhat effeminate straight boy... hmm, I can get behind this!
Theres enough ball touching on this site, need more pussy rubbin :3
Actually we need more lovings of all sorts! ;p
Let's call an orgy? XD
Maybe a little boob squishing too
i'm a little tired of all the m/m stuff honestly. i love it, don't get me wrong, but... wheeeere are the lesbians
and I sorta have the same problem, like, most of my characters are straight or bi or "if it moves", but I only have a couple that are just plain gay.
Among my personal friends on the site, I think there's actually a good variety of different couples! I think gay male art is really common in the community though, though usually from my experience it's not really a couple so much as a one-off pairing.
Really, I don't think it matters. Make what you like! Try variety now and then, but don't try and push it if it's not what your brain wants to do
I have plenty of non-lesbian characters, but my furry characters (and any others that get drawn) happen to be the lesbian ones... I guess that's basically all I ever wanna draw :'D lol
Yeah that's me too...! Except, it's all one character just in different pairings... Or else it's concept art for new characters I'm saving for a story or idea, but then I never draw them again
*gropes and runs away*
Hey
Hey
...you a sexy lady
I don't have any gay characters, but 90% of my girls are at least bisexual!
OhmygodifyouandCapribebedidacollabpiece
Iwoulddiehappily
I just don't have gay male characters!
LESBIANS FTW
...like, I say this as someone who tries to make every group of characters I have balanced (and I'd try for a little more intentional diversity if I was going to actually market any of my stories at an audience), but honestly? If you enjoy something, then feel free to use the concept a lot! It's fine to make self-indulgent characters, and don't let ANYONE tell you you can't.
(As a gay guy a lot of my characters are male - it's gotten to be pretty even though - but pretty much ALL of my characters are gay. No matter what gender a someone is they pretty much always end up gay or POSSIBLY bi/pan. OOPS. Sorry not sorry~)
I feel you on the gay thing too, honestly almost none of my characters are completely 100% straight... it's just no fun that way ;0
