-and by "L.D.D.", I mean "Lego Digital Designer", free software that lets you make Lego stuff on your computer.
Damn you once for being such an addicting waste of time. I wouldn't have expected it to be as much fun as this to virtually construct virtual things out of virtual plastic bricks.
Damn you twice for reigniting my dormant interest in real Legos (or "Lego Bricks" if you're picky) and causing me to spend more money than I usually do.
Damn you three times for making it possible to price and order the bricks needed to build the stuff you create in the designer software. Let me tell you, that can be pricey, especially if you make anything bigger than a Matchbox car.
And Damn you for the fourth time for switching around the bricks you can and can't order ( One one hand, there's all this new stuff I wish I had access to for some earlier projects, but on the other hand, things I DID use were taken away, like those clear canopies for vehicles), as well as jacking up the prices to nearly thrice as much. starting in April.

Thankfully, I got a couple custom orders in before the big shakeup. Maybe I'll show them off sometime.

Bought my self the brick beards bounty after waiting ten years for the pirates to return.

Fedora (Formally Fedora Core) is on Version 10 (or 11-Beta if you are willing to deal with Rawhide, and before you sag the beta... know this. Rawhide is known to eat babies, can be VERY unstable, YMMV, etc.), it what I am on currently... It's not bad, very big library of software, works well for near bleeding edge stuff. If you don't care for an update every 6 months, you could always move into the RHEL-clones (the biggest one among them is CentOS), but that I will leave for another day.
The reason that I urge this is the fact that Zod (Fedora Core 6's code name... Yes, it's a Superman reference and if you think that is bad... 11's codename is... Leonidas... Take that for what you will) is dead. 6 hit it's End of Life a few months after the 8 release, it's something of a risk if you keep using it on a production machine (or a desktop for that matter) since there will be NO more updates for 6.
You know, it's odd, I have been using Linux for about 6/7 years now, and only twice I have been tempted to use Ub. And yeah, I have been on Fedora for all of that time... I guess it the challenge that it gives me to why I keep using it on top of being able to do everything that Ub is capable of elsewhere (and the simple fact that Gentoo's default "Install" process scares the living daylights out of me... Compile from scratch, crazy...)
Knoppix and the MANY other LiveCD's out there are useful to have around. I have not grabbed one from Klaus, but then it might be because LiveCD's are all the rage in Linux. Fedora as of 8 has a few, Ub and it's derivatives always has one, OpenSUSE does it, Mandriva has one...You use a linux distro now, they are likely to have at least ONE LiveCD.They all owe Klaus some thanks.
That said, aside from the Fedora LiveCD's I have, there is one you might want to look into. It's called Parted Magic, it's a simple Live for the purpose of Partitioning and has most of you need for that, it has saved me quite a few times... helps with data recovery (so long as the drive [or partition] in question is not encrypted, never tested on one that is). You can get it here, http://partedmagic.com/ . As I said, it's quite handy.
I suppose I can't really blame them for doing that. I guess all you can hope for is megablocks taking up the slack and selling THEIR parts, too
Exept if you play it on a MacBook. It blinks, flashes and goes completly apeshit.
Ends up epileptic.
Anyway, theres no replacements for the real stuff
Just try to avoid selling your kidneys, I doubt one made of legos can replace the real thing.
I still have a HUGE box full of random lego's... Maybe I should auction it on eBay?
