Suitmakers.. Duct Tape or Masking Tape

Hi Folks.
Just a question. I was helping a friend with a Duct Tape Dummy. We were using the PVC tape specified by the maker's tutorial however when I cut my friend out I could see the duct tape start to contract and distort the form.
I was wondering if Masking Tape - which I have used before - would be preferable as it does not distort or contract because it cannot 'stretch'
Any opinions..
Here is a link to what I have been doing. It's for foam dummies however the principle of getting an accurate form is still the same.

Use american style duct tape which is known as silver fabric tape. Duct tape in australia is pvc only. The silver fabric tape should be in the same aisle at bunnings.
