Iceland!
Leaving for Iceland today! Never been outside North America, so this is going to be very strange. Haven't had a real (non-con) vacation since Thanksgiving 2013, so this is long overdue.
If you're not familiar, Iceland is one of the most photogenic countries in the world. Packed within its small shores are glaciers, hot springs, geysers, quaint churches and colorful houses, surreal mountains and valleys, wild animals, cliffs, and the most beautiful and plentiful waterfalls you've ever seen.
Having never done anything like this before, and with the amazing photographic opportunities within Iceland, I stocked up on a bunch of new equipment for this trip: Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 (got it a while ago with this partly in mind), ProGrey 150mm plate filter holder for that lens along with a 7-stop ND filter and 2-stop soft graduated ND filter, and an Osprey Atmos AG 65L pack. I'm also renting a Nikon D810 and borrowing a GoPro Hero3.
This is a lot of very amazing equipment. Hoping I'll get to put it all to worthwhile use. I'll try to create reviews and document the places I visit. Some of this equipment is cutting edge and innovative (the Atmos pack), others are new companies trying to disrupt entrenched businesses (ProGrey taking on Lee), so I'm really excited to see how these equipment perform and will try to make worthwhile assessments.
No clue what my internet access will be like when I'm there, so I'll see you when I return!
