Re-introducing myself...
So the older I get, the better I feel like I know myself and the parts of "me" I want to embrace as part of the furry community. Zeus has very much been a repository for all these wants / desires / fantasies that I feel like I can't really have. With that in mind, he's never really felt like "me" and so that's made it tough/weird to try and engage with the furry community, go to cons, etc. because it's always felt a bit like lying. That I'm claiming to be somebody I'm not. That said, there is a lot of fantasy tied-up in him that I love and don't want to give up, but figure out how to embrace more honestly. I've also long struggled with self-worth and self-image issues. I'm starting to get a handle on that, but I don't know how to still be "Zeus" as I gain confidence and strength in myself. I'm not the same person I was when I created Zeus 16 years ago (holy carp, it really has been that long...). I want to keep parts of him that are still "true" to me while giving myself someplace to grow and explore other parts of me that I'm just starting to own and live-out.
All that to say, I've decided an overhaul to my fursona / furry-self is LONG overdue. I'm re-imaging my lion-sona as my sub/cub side and creating a more dominant alter-ego that I feel like lets me embrace my growing self-confidence / self-worth.
Hyacinth the Lion:
- Age: Variable, 13 - 19.
- Body Type: Soft/Chubby
- Personality: Submissive/shy, kind, obedient, cubby.
- Orientation/Gender: Gay Male
Hyacinth, named for the one of Apollo's lovers, is a playful but quiet cub. Shy to a fault, he's not much for big parties, but loves intimate settings with his mate and close friends. He does have an exhibitionist streak in him though, secretly loving the thought of public humiliation, though the reality is a little scary. Related to this he is always depicted in diapers, regardless of age or setting, and somehow often loses his pants (though he will never admit to doing so on purpose...). He will protest and whine about being a big-boy, but don't believe him ;3.
Orthrus the Hellhound:
- Age: Variable but always an adult.
- Body Type: Husky/Muscular
- Personality: Confident, Playful, Social, Quick-Witted, Out-Going
- Orientation/Gender: Gay Male
Orthrus is named after another famous hellhound who was the brother of Cerberus. Orthrus loves a party and enjoys being out with friends. Intelligent, well-educated, and passionate, he loves intelligent conversation and debate. He can have a short fuse when he feels he (or those he cares about) are being ignored / not listened to. Agreeing to disagree is fine, but willful ignorance or disrespect is an unforgivable sin to Orthrus.

I promise, no matter whether Hyacinth (great name) or Orthrus shows up, we'll welcome him!
Thanks!
Here's the KCFur calendar with the details: http://groupspaces.com/KCFur
For the Wings night in Lawrence, is this the kind of thing tails, badges, etc. would be apporpriate at or is it a more "on the down-low" gathering?
Thanks!
For the last day at the Kansas City place I was trying to get permission for us to fursuit, but I could never get in touch with the manager. *sadmuzzle*
As for new Kansas City venues, suggestions are welcome. The old one was in Overland Park, on 87th. There are several furs near there. Of course there are many that live up north, too, that complain about the drive! The theme is "Wings Wednesday", so bonus points if the place has cheap wings! (But that's not a deal-breaker.)
