What do you look for?

When choosing to take the time and energy to read a story, what do you look for? What catches your interest? Storyline? Character depth and development? Blood and gore? Or just some good, old fashioned smut? I would really like to know what you, as a reader, look for in not only my stories, but other writers as well.
